Take you to know Longyan language and culture.

Longyan is the only prefecture-level city named after "Dragon" in China. Longyan is located in the west of Fujian, at the junction of Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi provinces. Longyan was once known as "China Characteristic Charming City" and "National Garden City". As we all know, many areas in Fujian have their own local languages and dialects. So what is the language of Longyan in Longyan culture?

Longyan dialect and Minnan branch culture in western Fujian developed from the history of Gu Ting House and Longyan House, and the languages belong to Hakka dialect family and Minnan language family.

Minnan dialect is distributed in Zhangping and xinluo district, represented by Longyan dialect. Although Longyan dialect belongs to Minnan dialect, it is slightly different from Minnan dialect in Zhangzhou and Quanzhou, and it is also different from Zhangping dialect.

Longyan belongs to Fulao language, which is relatively independent from Minnan language in Zhang Quan due to traffic congestion, remoteness and slow language evolution. In addition, Longyan was later promoted to the political, economic and cultural center of western Fujian, bordering Shanghang and Yongding, and having frequent contacts with Hakkas. Therefore, Longyan dialect has absorbed Hakka words, such as "elder brother", "elder sister", "hen" and "kitchen". To sum up, Longyan dialect has become a dialect with its own characteristics and transitional zone nature. It has aroused the interest of language researchers and has extraordinary research value.

Longyan was conceived and formed as a regional central city in the long historical development process of Gu Ting and Longyan, and its culture has the characteristics of the intersection of Hakka culture and Minnan culture.

The original Longyan and Zhangping counties belonged to Zhangzhou for a long period of time. After the state was established separately, the language and customs were basically the same as those of southern Fujian, so the regional culture of Longyan basically belonged to the cultural system of southern Fujian. For nearly half a century, Longyan has become the seat of a city (region) and the fastest and most advanced social and economic development area in western Fujian, and the branch culture of southern Fujian is more modern.

Longyan is different from Meizhou, a pure Hakka city, and Zhangzhou, a pure Fulao city. It is the collision and intersection of two cultures, and the culture presents diversity and forms a colorful situation.
