How is RMB printed?

The printing of each RMB goes through at least four major processes from "white paper" to "red paper", including offset printing, gravure printing, code printing and seal inspection. Different processes are completed in the workshops on each floor.

1. Offset printing: As the first process, offset printing is a type of lithography. Although this technology is widely used in other industries, the banknote printing industry has higher requirements for its accuracy.

The snow-white banknote printing paper that was fed into the offset printing machine one by one was printed with various colors of shading, including the dome of the Great Hall of the People and the decorations based on ancient bronzes.

2. Gravure printing: The smell of ink next to the gravure printing machine is stronger than that in other areas, and the "product" pattern spit out from its "mouth" is three-dimensional and distinct.

In the banknote printing industry, there was once a saying that "no banknotes can be made without concave". Until now, gravure printing is still an indispensable anti-counterfeiting method for banknotes in various countries around the world.

3. Printing code: There is a row of numerical codes on the lower left side of the front of each banknote. This is the serial number of RMB. The process of printing the serial number is called printing code.

The serial number consists of pinyin letters and Arabic numerals, and is used to mark the printing batch and arrangement sequence.

The serial number of each banknote is like an ID number and is unique.

4. Inspection and sealing: The last process of banknotes leaving the factory is inspection and sealing. Quality inspection workers must inspect the quality of each RMB under the light, such as whether the number is misprinted, whether the color is uniform, and whether the face of the note is smooth and clean.

The expanded information "Regulations of the People's Republic of China on the Administration of RMB" stipulates: Article 6: All units and individuals should protect the RMB.
