Mango Travel Diary: In the mountains of Guizhou, I met a girl who wanted to turn "abandoned village" into a tourist attraction, so I took mango to see it.

On the way from Guiyang to the Seven Petals Arch in Libo, we received an invitation from a friend and temporarily diverted to Guzhai, a Buyi village in Jialiang Town, Libo County, Shi Lei.

We thought we would arrive at Shi Lei Guzhai before dark, but the navigation error led us to the most difficult mountain road, and we didn't arrive until eleven o'clock in the evening. We were greeted by a beautiful woman, tall and thin, with long hair. She said that Shi Lei has not been developed, so there are no hotels and inns in the stockade. Let's stay at her friend's house. It's already late at night, so we'll have a rest after a simple wash.

In the morning, I was awakened by the swift river. When I looked out, I realized that we lived by the waterfall. Because it just rained, the river surged and made a huge roar. There is a mountain on the other side of the river, and houses are built one by one. After the rain, the smoke curled up and looked very fairy. A bridge spans both banks. Just as I was about to cross the bridge and look across, that beautiful woman came to have breakfast with us last night. The beauty is Xiao Di, a local. She said that Shi Lei was a Buyi stockade more than 600 years ago. Across the river is the old stockade, and here is the new stockade.

Her home is on the hillside, and it is also an old house with two floors and a wooden house. Standing in front of the house, you can see the village on the other side. The vegetation is green, the river is muddy, and there is a fresh feeling after the rain.

After breakfast, I walked in the ancient village. Just crossing the bridge, I saw a big sign that read: Lu, a traditional villager in China. Zhelu language is Buyi language. Generally speaking, outsiders are called Shi Lei Guzhai, which means a stockade made of stone, because all the houses here are made of stone. There is a big square below, which is a place for villagers to move. Whenever there is a festival, people will gather here to sing and dance.

Above is the village, which is built on the mountain. Shiban Road goes up layer by layer, leading to every household. The house is a two-story building with a dry fence. The diaojiao building of Qianhu Miao Village in Xijiang River is different. The lower part here is made of stone, and the upper part is a wooden house. Similarly, the second floor is for people, and the first floor is for livestock.

Walking on the mossy stone road, there is a feeling of traveling through history. Xiao Di said that many people moved out of the old stockade, some built new houses in the new stockade opposite, and some moved to the county seat. There are only a few families living here, almost an "empty village". From the outside, many houses are not damaged except for the mottled feeling of the years. Why did you leave? Perhaps this old-fashioned building is no longer suitable for the needs of modern people.

Walking in an empty village, there is a desolate and gloomy feeling, even if the sun is shining, it is still full of yin. Walking into an empty room, there was no one in it, only the fireplace in the middle and the dustpan in the corner still smelled of people.

Going up again, you come to a house with green vines hanging on the outer wall. Stones are taller than people, just to see if many homestays look like now. But this is also an empty house. There is no breath of life except the green plants on the wall.

Walking up the green steps, I saw several workers seem to be moving. Xiao Di said that they were repairing the old house. Because the old houses here are relatively well preserved and have a long history among Buyi people, they have been selected into the list of traditional Chinese villages. Xiao Di said that in order to better maintain the old houses and spread weaving, batik, handicrafts, etc., she wrote a planning book and drew some investments to take over those uninhabited old houses, hoping to build them into a village with folk characteristics, so that people can better understand the Buyi people.

To tell the truth, I admire this girl very much. She has the courage and perseverance to do great things, independent and confident, dare to think and do, and can bear hardships. She said that when she was in college, she and her classmates built Libo Travel Network, which operated very well. Many people and enterprises, including Libo government, paid a high price to buy this website, but they all refused and insisted on operating it themselves. Now, I have begun to "toss" ancient buildings and intangible heritage. Although I don't know much about it and can't give more help, I hope to see a brand-new Buyi ancient village that surprises me next time I go to Shi Lei.
