Names of 33 townships in Dongguan
Dongguan is located in the south-central part of Guangdong Province, on the east bank of the Pearl River Estuary and in the Pearl River Delta downstream of Dongjiang River. Because it is located in the east of Guangzhou, it is named for its rich grass. The maximum horizontal distance from the east to the west of Dongguan is 70.45 kilometers, and the easternmost point is Yinpingzui Mountain in Qingxi Town, bordering Huiyang District of Huizhou City. The westernmost route is the center line of Shiziyang in the northwest of Xidatan, shatian town, facing Panyu District and Nansha District across the sea.
The longest longitudinal distance between north and south is 46.8km, and the northernmost point is Datan Village, Tang Zhong Town, facing Huangpu District, Zengcheng District and Boluo County, Huizhou City across the river. The southernmost point is Yantian Reservoir in Fenggang Town, which is connected with Baoan District of Shenzhen. Adjacent to Hong Kong and Macao, it is in the middle of the economic corridor from Guangzhou to Shenzhen. It is 59 kilometers away from the center of Guangzhou in the northwest, 99 kilometers away from the center of Shenzhen in the southeast and 140 kilometers away from the downtown area of Hong Kong.
Geological landform
The geological structure of Dongguan city belongs to Luofushan fault zone, Boluo fault in the southern margin and Dongguan fault basin. The terrain is high in the southeast and low in the northwest. The landforms are mainly hilly platforms and alluvial plains, with hilly platforms accounting for 44.5% of the city's land area, alluvial plains accounting for 43.3% and mountains accounting for 6.2% of the city's land area.
The southeast is mountainous, especially in the east. The mountain is huge, strongly divided, concentrated in pieces and fluctuating, with an altitude of 200-600 meters and a slope of about 30. The main peak of Yinpingzui Mountain is 898.2 meters high, which is the highest peak in Dongguan. The low mountains and hills in the south-central part belong to hilly platform areas. Northeast China is close to Dongjiang River, where hills are developed and land and valley plains are distributed. The elevation is 30-80 meters, the slope is small, and the terrain is gentle, mostly in Putian area, which is easy to accumulate water.
