The opera Wildfire and Spring Breeze Fighting the Ancient City is adapted from the novel of the same name by the famous writer Li Yingru. 1963, Li Yingru acted as a screenwriter, and Bayi Film Studio made it into a movie of the same name, which caused a great sensation. 1995, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the victory of the Anti-Japanese War, Bruce Lee, the daughter and director of Li Yingru, directed 20 TV dramas based on the original novels. The General Political Opera Troupe adapted it into a modern national opera, which made this literary masterpiece shine on the opera stage.

The national opera Regret for the Past is a contemporary work. According to the 0/00th anniversary of Lu Xun's birth/kloc-,Quan Wang and Han Wei organized a creative rehearsal, composed by Shi Guangnan and sung by Yin Xiumei, Cheng Zhi, Guan Mucun and Liu Yue. Premiered at Beijing People's Theatre on 198 1. The script embodies the lyrical style of the original work, portrays the young people who dared to fight against feudal ethics in the 1920s by Juan Sheng and Zi Jun, and also reveals the weaknesses of intellectuals themselves.
