What does windmill mean?
Its small wheel rotates to pray for good weather: its small drum makes a harmonious sound: its red, yellow, green and colored stripes are symbols of sunshine, land and blue sky. The capital was the most popular in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and it was a symbol of old Beijing. People call it the auspicious wheel. Later people used to call it a windmill. Windmills originated in the Zhou Dynasty, and represent happiness and auspiciousness in folk windmills. Jiang Ziya invented it to subdue demons, formerly known as Bagua Wind Wheel.
Cultural mark
A toy made of paper and similar to a wind generator, which I especially liked when I was a child, is rare now. As a kind of toy, windmill is only available in China, but it is rare in other places.
In the past, the circumference of the windmill was 365 minutes, symbolizing 365 days a year, 12 spokes representing 12 months, 24 heads representing 24 honesty days, and the windmill had four symbols, praying for peace in the four seasons. Therefore, there is an old saying that "the wind blows around the car and the wind blows happiness." Windmills have become one of the cultural symbols of temple fairs and festivals in Beijing during the Spring Festival.
