Lion dance is one of the most popular folk dances in China. In China tradition, the lion, as the king of beasts, is regarded as something that can bring good luck. In ancient China, people thought that lions were the embodiment of courage and strength, which could drive out evil and protect them. The recorded history of lion dance can be traced back to more than 2000 years ago. In the Tang Dynasty, the lion dance was presented to the royal family. Since then, it has become a part of the Lantern Festival and other festivals. People expect it to bring good luck, peace and happiness.
