Characteristics of Taijiquan

Taijiquan's movements are characterized by

1, softness

Taijiquan's movements are easy and soft, which are very adaptable to the requirements of human physiological activities.

2, round activity

Taijiquan movement is not a straight line movement, but everywhere with an arc, take the arc line.

3. Coherence

From the opening to the closing, despite the many changes in postures and movements, they are all connected with each other, coherent and continuous.

4. Completeness

Taijiquan's movements are based on the waist as the main axis, and each movement is driven by the torso, rotating with the axis of the waist, and lifting and lowering with the rise and fall of the torso.

5. "Three adjustments"

That is, the organic combination of adjusting the body, adjusting the breath and adjusting the mind. In the practice of taijiquan, it is required that the idea and action are consistent, that is, where the action runs, the idea also follows where. Up and down follow each other, hands and feet echo.

With the rise and fall of the movement, the breathing is naturally regulated and closely coordinated. Generally speaking, when the movement is open and rising, inhale, and when it is falling and closing, exhale, so that the inside and outside of the upper and lower parts of the body are complete and one.

Taijiquan, an intangible cultural heritage, is a kind of internal and external training, soft, slow, light and flexible, which is formed by the dialectical concepts of taiji and yin and yang in the traditional Chinese philosophy of Confucianism and Taoism, and combines the changes of yin and yang and the five elements in the science of econometrics, Chinese medicine meridian and collateral studies, and the ancient guiding and vomiting techniques.

After 1949, it was unified and adapted by the National Sports Commission for the purpose of gymnastic exercises, performances and sports competitions for strengthening the body. After China's reform and opening up, it was partially restored to its original form; thus, it was subdivided into Taijiquan for martial arts, Taijiquan for gymnastic sports, and Taiji Push Hands.

There are many schools of traditional taijiquan, and the common schools of taijiquan are Chen's, Yang's, Wu's, Wu's, Sun's, and He's, etc. Each of these schools has its own inheritance relationship and learns from each other, and each has its own characteristics, which is a state of blossoming.

Because taijiquan is a kind of boxing formed in recent times, there are many schools, and the masses have a wide base, so it is a very vital force in the Chinese martial arts boxing.
