What are the former residences of celebrities hidden in Beijing?

Beijing is an ancient capital with a history of more than 3000 years. In this long history, countless celebrities have lived here, and their former residence has become a place where people remember them today.

Caoxueqin former residence

It is said that Cao Xueqin lived in Huangye Village at the foot of Xiangshan Mountain in his later years, where Dream of Red Mansions, one of China's four classical novels, was written. Cao Xueqin Memorial Hall was built in 1983, named "Huangye Village". The entrance is a huge old tree. You can see the statue of Cao Xueqin when you go in. This building is a row of bungalows facing south. The collection is mainly some cultural relics related to Cao Xueqin's life experience and physical imitations described in A Dream of Red Mansions. Sometimes, some activities of the Red Cross are held here.

Lu Xun's former residence

This is the place where Lu Xun lived from 1924 to 1926. It was designed and transformed by Lu Xun himself. Here, he completed the trilogy of Gai Hua Collection, the sequel of Gai Hua Collection, Weeds, Wandering, Picking Flowers in the Morning and Picking Flowers at the Grave, which is a typical Beijing quadrangle. There are lilac trees planted by Lu Xun himself in the yard. At present, all the invisible houses here are displayed as they are, and tourists can only watch them from the window. Meilanfang former residence

This is the place where Mr. Mei Lanfang lived in the last 10 year of his life. It is a quiet and comfortable quadrangle, which was originally a part of Yihe Palace in the late Qing Dynasty. After the renovation, Mei Lanfang moved here to live. As soon as you enter the gate of the memorial hall, you can see the white bust of Mr. Mei Lanfang. The south exhibition hall briefly introduces some precious old photos of Mr. Mei Lanfang's life. The main courtyard in the north retains the furnishings in front of Mr. Mei Lanfang, and the rooms on both sides display some of Mr. Mei Lanfang's own calligraphy, paintings and gifts from everyone.

Lao She's Former Residence

This is the place where Mr. Lao She lived after liberation. It was bought by Mr. Lao She himself, and it was also the place where Mr. Lao She lived for the longest time, which lasted for sixteen years until his death. Lao She's former residence is an ordinary quadrangle in Beijing. There is a gray brick screen wall and two south houses at the entrance. Enter the second door and turn a colorful Xiao Mu screen wall, which is the main part of the memorial hall. The items displayed in it are all articles and works of Mr. Lao She before his death. Famous dramas such as Fang Mingzhu, Longxugou, Teahouse, Looking at Chang 'an in the West, Family Portrait, and 23 works commemorating my father, such as Shenquan, were written here.

song qingling's former residence

This was the imperial garden of Zai Feng, the father of the late Qing emperor Puyi. After the founding of New China, it was converted into the residence of Mr. Soong Ching Ling in Beijing. From 1963 to 198 1, Mr Soong Ching Ling lived here until his death. Now it is a national 3A-level tourist attraction and a national key cultural relic protection unit. The place where Mr. Soong Ching Ling lives is a two-story building near the lake built in the later period, with an inner court. The first floor is the living room, where the secretary works, and the second floor is where Mr. Soong Ching Ling lives. Now visitors can see the original decoration in the room through the glass, basically keeping the original appearance. On the other floor of the lake is the life showroom of Mr. Soong Ching Ling, which displays her life introduction and historical objects, including newspapers and old photos at that time, with free explanations every hour.
