Introduction Brief Characteristics of the Pipa

The pipa is the most difficult instrument in folk music, consisting of six phases and twenty-five products that make up the twelve equal temperament with a wide range of tones. The first string is made of steel wire, and the second, third and fourth strings are made of steel rope and nylon. The pipa's sound is very special, and its overtones are the first among all kinds of musical instruments in ancient and modern times, not only large in volume, but also crisp and bright in sound quality. At the same time, the pipa's fundamental sound is accompanied by rich overtones, which make the sound of the pipa less attenuated and more penetrating, and the sound of the pipa can reach two or three miles away when it is played in a calm, open space and when it is played in a heavy, strong tone.

The basic tone is the key of D. 5215
