Lanzhou Evening News Recently, Professor Chen Hao's team from the Department of Surgical Oncology of the Second Hospital of Lanzhou University successfully completed a case of complete da Vinci robotic lobectomy and isthmus resection of thyroid gland, and the patient fully recovered 24 hours after the operation. This is the first case of complete robotic thyroidectomy in Gansu Province, which is a precedent for robotic thyroid surgery in Gansu Province. This technology fills the gap of da Vinci robotic thyroid surgery technology in Gansu and even Northwest China.

Compared to traditional lumpectomy thyroid surgery, robot-assisted surgery can more realistically reproduce the depth and layers of the human anatomy through a 3D field of view and a magnifying lens. Currently, Professor Chen Hao's team in the Department of Surgical Oncology at Landa University Second Hospital has used the da Vinci Surgical Robot to perform leading-edge surgeries for biliary tract tumors, liver tumors, gastric malignant tumors, colorectal malignant tumors, splenic tumors, and related surgical fields. Prof. Chen Hao said that Surgical Oncology will try to minimize the trauma caused by circumventable open surgeries to patients in the future, so that more patients can benefit.
