Can Han Chinese marry Tibetans?
Chinese and Tibetans have been intermarrying since the Tang Dynasty, as in the case of Princess Wencheng and Songtsen Gampo.
Today, the government encourages intermarriage to promote "unity".
Local newspapers in the Tibet Autonomous Region have also published articles advocating intermarriage. In an effort to promote intermarriage, Tibetan officials recently held a symposium with representatives of 19 intermarried families from across the region, stating that "we should actively promote intermarriage among all ethnic groups in an effort to form ethnic relations where blood is thicker than water."
So Han Chinese and Tibetans can get married.
