How did Thai dance develop?

Thai dance is gorgeous and elegant, light and smooth, graceful and free and open in style. With the progress of society and the changes of the times, the traditional dance and classical dance in Thailand have remained basically unchanged, which shows that the Thai people are firm in their religious beliefs. They have always maintained the local flavor of the dance. The Thai people and government have well preserved and inherited the traditional Thai dance. Nala dance, like traditional Thai mask dance drama, northeast wind singing and shadow play, has become one of Thailand's 50 cultural heritages, and local residents in the south are promoting this folk belief and entertainment for the next generation. In order to ensure the good protection and inheritance of Nala dance as a national heritage, the Thai cultural department is accelerating the process of applying for the intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO. At the same time, in recent years, with the increasing exchanges and cooperation between China and ASEAN countries, Thailand has taken the initiative to "go out" and "please come in", constantly strengthening friendly and close exchanges and cooperation with the cultural circles of ASEAN countries, and Thai dance art has entered China in various ways, showing its unique artistic charm to the people of China. With the continuous development of dance art in Thai universities, in recent years, dance teachers and students in Thai universities have also strengthened their ties with universities in China to carry out cultural and artistic exchanges and cooperation. Guangxi Art College is located in the southwest of China, which occupies an important geographical advantage in the communication between China and Southeast Asian countries. In recent years, cultural and artistic activities such as "China-ASEAN Dance Education Forum" and "China-ASEAN Music Week" have been held with universities in ASEAN countries, and there have been many exchanges with dance teachers and actors in Thai universities.

Teachers and students from universities such as Royal University of Luo Kun, Chulalongkorn University, Songkhla Province, Art Development College of Thai Ministry of Culture, Royal University of Ayutthaya, and Brapa University of the Arts in Thailand have all carried out a series of academic exchanges, joint performances, educational visits and other activities with Guangxi Art College. Successful academic exchanges and joint performances have enabled teachers and students majoring in Chinese and Thai dance to deepen their understanding of Chinese and Thai traditional culture, enhance their friendship and improve their skills. In the Sino-Thai exchange performances and workshop teaching activities, Thai dance artists showed us the traditional Thai music, music and dance (such as Luo Kun dance in Thailand), northern dance and southern dance excavated and arranged by scholars from 18 to 19 century. Through dance costumes, dance steps, gestures and facial expressions, people deeply feel the unique charm of traditional Thai dance culture. The curriculum of dance major in Thai universities is basically the same. Students mainly study two forms: the classical dance "Kong" and "Luo Kun". In addition, they will also learn some northern folk dances and southern folk dances, such as Wang Nan Dance, Elephant Foot Drum Dance and Nora Dance. Thai universities attach great importance to the protection and excavation of Thai traditional music, dance and art, and the teaching of dance courses pays special attention to the cultivation of talents in the "Kong" drama, the quintessence of Thailand, and its attitude of respecting national traditions is amazing.
