Meishan Vocational and Technical College specializes in modern agricultural technology, animal husbandry and veterinary medicine, food detection technology, food processing technology, garden technology, electromechanical integration technology, automobile technical service and marketing, architectural decoration engineering technology, construction engineering technology, engineering cost and so on.

Meishan Vocational and Technical College is a full-time public institution of higher learning sponsored by Meishan Municipal People's Government and headed by Sichuan Province. The college was selected as the third batch of national modern apprenticeship pilot units, the construction unit of demonstration higher vocational colleges in Sichuan Province, and the first batch of "modern apprenticeship" pilot schools in Sichuan Province.

College is also one of the first three pilot universities of new professional farmers in Sichuan Province, the construction unit of Meishan Branch of Sichuan Academy of Social Sciences, the modern agricultural technology training base of Sichuan Province, the chairman unit of Meishan Vocational Education Group, and the chairman unit of Dongpo Taste Food Industry College of Meishan City.

The college covers an area of more than 500 mu, with a building area of1.2000 square meters. The total assets of teaching and scientific research instruments and equipment are more than 40.43 million yuan, and there are more than 440,000 paper books in the collection.

The college's predecessor was Meishan Normal School for Nationalities in Sichuan Province founded in 1927 and Leshan Agricultural School in Sichuan Province founded in 1958. In 2002, approved by the provincial government and reported to the Ministry of Education for the record, the two schools merged to form Meishan Vocational and Technical College.
