Suzhou Artists Association of the Association Profile
Suzhou is China's history of traditional painting and calligraphy in the most brilliant city, as far as the era of the North and South Dynasties, there are Lu Tanwei, Zhang Shenyao, Gu Nuwang, Zheng Fashi and other masters of the art of more than ten, to the middle of the Ming Dynasty, Suzhou painting is more in the age of its unprecedented splendor. At the exhibition of paintings on the 10th anniversary of the liberation of Suzhou in 1959, Yu Tongfu used traditional brushwork to express the new style of mountains and rivers. It was rare at that time that Zhang Jin used green landscape to express the late autumn scenery of Tianping Mountain; Xie Xiaosi's plums were strong and colorful; Gu Chonghua's wild geese; Liu Junran's fruits and vegetables; Chen Old Village's carp; and Wu Xilan's roses, all of them broke the original fence to varying degrees and added the flavor of life. Sun Junliang, Yang Mingyi, Liu Maoshan, Ma Bole they all depict the landscape of their hometowns, not confined to the ancient methods, with new ideas, showing a strong flavor of the south of the Yangtze River, is a contemporary in the country quite strong and influential famous landscape painters. Suzhou figure painters, in the early stage, there are Du redrawing, to express the rural women and the People's Liberation Army's works. Suzhou bird and flower painting has developed greatly since the liberation of China, and Mr. Zhang Xinjia is one of the most influential artists in the country. In his early years, he was trained by Mr. Chen Mo, a famous artist in Jiangnan, and studied Ren Bonian, Xu Qingteng and Chen Baiyang. At the same time, he emphasized sketching and absorbed nutrients from life, and his works were admired for their clear and strong style. Mr. Zhang Jixin is one of the most outstanding disciples of Mr. Zhang Xinjia, and is now the Honorary Chairman of Suzhou Artists Association. Mr. Xu Yanshao, also a disciple of Mr. Zhang Xinjia, is now one of the major painters in Suzhou's bird and flower painting industry. Mr. Jiang Fengbai graduated from the National West Lake Academy of Fine Arts and was one of Mr. Pan Tianshou's favorite students, and after graduation, he was Pan Tianshou's assistant professor. Mr. Jiang devoted himself to the study of orchids and bamboos in ink and wash, and his works are emaciated and elegant. In his later years, he taught at the Suzhou Arts and Crafts School to train his students. Mr. Pan Yuyu was originally involved in watermark woodcutting, and later painted ink and watercolor opera characters, and in recent years, he has been working on flower and bird paintings. Mr. Yu Keqi asked for bird and flower paintings at the same time as his oil paintings. Mr. Zhu Xinsheng and Mr. Gong Yin's flower and bird paintings have a place in Suzhou's painting world. Zhang Zhong is the daughter of Mr. Zhang Xinjia, whose art has been passed down from his family, and is active in the field of flower and bird painting. Zhang Yingchun is a young and powerful painter who has been active in recent years and has often won awards. Yao Xinfeng, Wu Zhan Yuan, Wei Benxiong, Chen Rudong, Qin Xueyan, Wu Xiao in their respective creations show strength, for the creation of Suzhou painting active participants.
Suzhou oil painting, watercolor and pastel painting started very early. Yan Wenliang, Zhu Shijie, Hu Zuizhong pioneers in the front, and then there is Wu Shujiang such a great man followed by Wang Ren and Zhou Aizhen, Yu Keguan painted many good works. Lu satellite, Xu Haiou, Jiang Zhusong, Yao Buttercup, Wu Xiaoxun, Zhang Xinquan, Xu Qing, Peng Cainian and other young painters have been hard at work. Jiang Chun, Bei Xuemin, Huang Hai's watercolor painting has made great progress in Suzhou.
Suzhou's oil painting team has cultivated and introduced many excellent painters since the reform and opening up. In 2006, Wu Xiaoxun's work "Lamp-Light" won the Gold Medal in the Hundred Chinese Oil Paintings Jinling Exhibition, and Yao Buttercup's "Enjoying the Sunshine" won the Gold Medal in the Hundred Chinese Oil Paintings Jinling Exhibition in 2008, which is the highest award Suzhou's oil paintings have achieved in the nationwide exhibitions since the founding of the People's Republic of China. The works of Zhang Xinquan, Lu Satellite, Dai Jiafeng, Qian Liu, Zhang Huaoyao, Liu Changming, Wang Hui, Jin Wei, Zhang Yong, Wang Xianpei and other artists have also achieved excellent results in different exhibitions across the country over the years. Printmakers such as Yang Mingyi, Pan Yuyu, Shen Minyi, Zhou Weiming, Wang Mian, Laosi, Wu Hongzhao, and Chen Shi were active in the printmaking circles of Suzhou, Jiangsu and the whole country in the 1970s and 1980s. Jiang Zhusong and Hui Xixu both enjoy a high reputation in the industry and have planned very successful artistic images for many major economic and cultural events in Suzhou.
In the 21st century, as China's economic construction continues to develop and the Renaissance quietly proceeds, Suzhou's fine arts are bound to become more and more prosperous, and there will be more high-level painters. The river of art is immense, and Suzhou art will further create masterpieces with Suzhou characteristics.
