What does rhodium plating mean? Who can explain?

Rhodium plating is a common process in jewelry making, that is, plating a layer of rhodium on the surface of precious metal.

Rhodium has good chemical stability and oxidation resistance, so the rhodium-plated movement is bright and hard, and it can keep luster in the air for a long time. Rhodium plating treatment: Rhodium is a silver-white precious metal, which is expensive, complicated in process and high in technical requirements. Rhodium plating can form a hard, wear-resistant and bright surface, and its corrosion resistance and chemical stability are greatly improved, thus improving the reliability and service life of products.

Matters needing attention in rhodium plating

Before electroplating jewelry, it should be electrolyzed, then washed once with 5% acid (usually 5% sulfuric acid), and then washed three times with water (in case of rhodium plating, it should be washed with distilled water to avoid polluting the expensive rhodium plating solution).

Prepare before electroplating, turn on the power supply, and adjust the voltage to the specified voltage of the metal to be electroplated (please consult the supplier who bought the electroplating solution for the specific voltage). The anode (positive electrode) of the power supply is connected with the titanium mesh placed in the electroplating bath, and the cathode (negative electrode) of the power supply is connected with the jewelry waterline to be electroplated. Take rhodium plating as an example here. The voltage of rhodium plating is about 4V, and cannot exceed 5V.
