What antibiotics can be used to treat pneumonia?

Pneumonia can be divided into many kinds. As far as infectious pneumonia is concerned, bacterial pneumonia can be divided into pneumococcal pneumonia, staphylococcal pneumonia, Legionella pneumonia and mycoplasma pneumonia.

Pneumococcal pneumonia: Commonly used antibiotics are penicillin, erythromycin and cephalosporin.

Staphylococcal pneumonia: oxacillin and cephalosporin (cefazolin).

Legionella pneumonia: erythromycin, rifampicin, doxycycline.

Mycoplasma pneumonia: erythromycin, tetracycline.

Cefalexin and cefradine belong to the first generation cephalosporin products, which have good bactericidal effect on anaerobic gram-positive bacteria and some negative bacteria. The antibacterial spectrum is basically similar, but cefradine has great damage to kidney and many common adverse reactions such as hematuria.

The third generation cephalosporin products have bactericidal effect on both gram-negative bacteria and gram-positive bacteria, and often have strong bactericidal effect on negative bacteria, such as ceftriaxone sodium and cefotaxime.
