The man who owns the Poetry Cloud Book Club, Chen Yao, is a graduate of the literature department of Henan University, who drifted north in '04 and returned to HNU in late '05 with his girlfriend and more than 1,000 books. Chen Yao knows that there are a lot of people who love Shiyun, so although it was tough before, he stuck it out. Chen Yao also said during the ten-year celebration of Shiyun Book Club last winter, "The word 'perseverance' is a bit sad. I hope that in the next ten years or more, what we do will no longer be sticking to it, but doing it with joy and happiness. In ten years, Shiyun Book Club has sold more than 400,000 books, and I believe that each book is a cornerstone that strengthens the cultural foundation of this city. In the past few years, there are often foreign readers who come to Shiyun Book Club. Someone told me that he chose to play in Kaifeng because he wanted to visit the bookstore. Just as many Peking University people's memories about their alma mater will include Wind in the Pines, Tsinghua people's memories will include All Saints, and Nanshan people's memories will include Pioneers, I hope that Hedong people's memories will include Poetry Cloud Bookstore."
