Introduction of Chaoshan gongs and drums

Chaozhou gongs and drums are traditional percussion music of Han nationality popular in Chaoshan area of Guangdong Province. It developed from the form of gongs and drums in Qing Dynasty. In the past, there were gongs and drums halls all over Chaozhou, which were played at the annual worship activities. The musical instrument only uses four gongs and two sets of cymbals, which are in the form of drums, commonly known as "four gongs and two cymbals". Because the playing method is too simple, artists added suona to play some string poems, such as "Dragon Crossing the River" and "Hundred Villages", which have been played and developed into a playing form.
