What kinds of Korean dances are there?

There are several kinds of Korean dances, such as agricultural dance, mask dance, sword dance, long drum dance, flat drum dance, fan dance and beat dance. Korean dance movements are mostly improvised, characterized by large amplitude, harmonious inner feelings and movements of performers, good at expressing chic and cheerful emotions, beautiful melody and changeable rhythm of accompanying music.

Agricultural music dance: it is the longest dance of Korean people to express the content of farming life. It originated from ancient sacrificial rites and hunting activities. Agricultural music and dance can be divided into plot performance and skill performance. Its performance team is all led by dancers with gongs. Generally, there are 29 people in the team, with the leader holding a "magic weapon" or a "juggling device", followed by a band and various figures.

Masquerade: It is a male dance performed with a mask. Its performance is a dramatic blend of singing, dialogue, dancing and other artistic forms. Masked dancing is mostly used to express satire, and the plot is lively and humorous.

Sword dance: Also known as sword dance, it is a female dance performed with a dagger. There is a movable device between the handle and the body of the dagger, and the performer can swing and rotate the dagger freely, making it make a regular sound, which complements the beautiful dance and creates a fighting atmosphere.

Long drum dance: it is a prop dance performed with long drums, which can be used by both men and women. Women's long drum dance style is elegant; Men's long encouragement is chic and active. This kind of dance originated from the solo performance in the agricultural music dance, and evolved into solo dance, duet dance and group dance, which is widely spread among Korean folk.
