Enterprises in traditional industries

China's leading large enterprises in the world are mainly distributed in traditional industries such as energy, minerals, metallurgy, real estate, transportation, banking and so on, and there are few in high-tech industries.

China has established a large-scale and complete industrial system, but the development between regions is uneven and the development between different links in the industrial chain is not sufficient. First, the imbalance of industrial development is not sufficient. Overcapacity and insufficient capacity coexist in many industries, and a large amount of capital is concentrated in some areas, resulting in serious overcapacity. At the same time, many areas have insufficient production capacity and rely heavily on imports.

Second, the imbalance of regional development is insufficient. The development level of different regions is quite different. Some eastern coastal areas have entered the late stage of industrialization, while some central and western regions are still in the early stage of industrialization. In the process of development, the phenomenon of industrial homogenization and low-level repeated construction is prominent in the late-developing areas, which will not only waste resources and environment, but also be detrimental to the promotion of the domestic great cycle.

Third, the imbalance of enterprise development is not sufficient. For example, in 2022, there were 145 enterprises in China among the top 500 companies in the world, among which 16 top 50 enterprises were basically located in traditional industries, while most of the top 50 enterprises in the United States were located in high-tech industries.
