Social review

Shen Peng, Honorary Chairman of China Calligraphers Association:

Every time Zhang sets foot on the landscape, he sings. Do you admire both the benevolent Leshan and the wise Leshan? This volume of crescent bay cursive poems is eclectic, scattered in size and inclined to each other. Last year, I traveled to Taiwan Province Province with Hu Jun, and my colleagues in the book circle of Taiwan Province Province praised his works as calm and natural. The famous poet Sepidin Eziz:

Northwest China is my hometown —— Written for the book Northwest Customs by Comrade Zhang Hu.

Northwest China/is my hometown. /She is so beautiful,/And so desolate. /Charming beauty,/Terrible desolation. /nature is like this-/wonderful and mysterious. Some people say that she is-/horribly desolate,/perhaps because she has a big desert that devours everything; /Maybe she has boundless Gobi; /and relentless dust, wind and heat! /And I said that she is so beautiful and charming,/because she still has an oasis/-a green life,/because she still has Karejing-Ganquan/-an intoxicating pastoral area that raises my milk,/grapes and fruits.

If you are a coward, the thirst of the desert is waiting for you! /If you are a coward,/The desert wind is waiting for you! /If you are a slacker,/The vast Gobi is waiting for you! If you are a pursuer of beauty,/she is waving to you! /If you are a science soldier,/She is preparing to meet you with open arms!

Wang Xuezhong, Consultant of China Calligraphers Association:

Zhang Hu's writing style is simple in essence. He doesn't want to polish and elaborate the language too much, and he doesn't like to quote famous sayings and puzzling modern vocabulary easily, and he doesn't show off his erudition in his articles.

In this "Essay", in addition to describing some unforgettable things he encountered, he also considered the theme and genre, some of which were written as poems, some as essays, and some as reportage. Due to time constraints, most of his articles are short, or record an event or a person, and the plot is not complicated. Linguistically speaking, it is not what Su Like Dongpo said, "My writing is like a fountain flowing on the ground, although it is a fountain." Zhang Hu pursues simplicity, simplicity and simplicity, which should be explained in short words. He is not arrogant, approachable and wordy. At present, his prose advocates short essays, and Zhang Hu is an expert in writing short essays. Feng Jicai, Vice Chairman of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles:

The beauty of Zhang Hu's calligraphy is well known. I like his free and easy, peaceful atmosphere, especially his unassuming tension-a superb skill beyond pen and ink. I thought, where did this come from?

I was shocked when I read Zhang Hu's Song of Sheyan. I was surprised, partly because there are too few calligraphers who can write poems and essays now, and partly because this ancient poem is really well written.

This poem, like a waterfall and a long spring, runs unimpeded, sometimes making several folds and falling into the bottom. Among them, the crystal drops are beautiful words. There are wonderful metaphors and ingenious ideas; There are signs full of spirituality and signs full of imagination; Write about history, things, shapes, situations, appearances, qualities, sounds, feelings and more about its spirit and soul. Thus, this world-famous and unparalleled inkstone was born in rhyme: all kinds of famous inkstones were casually sung to him. Zhang Hu is such a good poet!

Now Hu Zhang wrote it again. I suddenly found that; His poems are like calligraphy and his calligraphy is like poetry. Poetry is elegant, and books are chic; Books are free, so are poems. Isn't this vigorous use of calligraphy the backbone of his poetry, and the mellow meaning of this poem is the essence of calligraphy? So I understand that Zhang Hu's calligraphy comes from superb skills other than pen and ink? The ancients only said that painting is like people, but calligraphy is actually more like people; The ancients only said that poetry and painting are integrated, but in fact, poetry and books are also integrated. However, only by writing your own poems can you truly integrate poetry and books.

So here, good poems, good words and good inkstones are all in the same place. Ci gives birth to poetry, poetry gives birth to inkstone, and inkstone new words, just like the breeze on the river and the bright moon in the mountains, sing praises to each other and set each other off as interest; The beauty of culture means endless things.

Ou Haonian, a famous painting and calligraphy critic in Taiwan Province Province:

I read Zhang Hu's poem Moonlight in Beidaihe and remembered Yi Bingshou, a famous calligrapher in Qing Dynasty. Easy to be an official, be an official in politics, but also write poems and books, with their own personality; He knows life, art and is respected. I can see from Mr. Zhang Hu's poems that he is also a man who knows life and art.

Consultant of All-Japan Bookstore Alliance:

Mr. Zhang Hu's calligraphy inherited the brushwork of Wang Xizhi and Liu Gongquan, as well as the graceful and restrained style of Yan Zhenqing and the bold and unconstrained style of Zhang Xu and Huai Su. He has his own calligraphy collection and literary works collection, and he has a good study of poetry and prose. He is a leading member of the China Book Association. His calligraphy works have distinct characteristics of the times. He dabbled in a wide range, studied classical works and integrated them into his new calligraphy creation. These works give people a lot of inspiration.

Zhong Mingshan, Consultant of China Calligraphers Association:

Leading you into the Door of Calligraphy —— Comment on Zhang Hu's Introduction to Calligraphy

China's calligraphy is the art of beautifying Chinese characters. The emergence of Chinese characters is a sign that our ancestors entered a new era of human civilization. There are two important ways to create Chinese characters: one is "close to all things, far from all things". Starting with the pictographic description of the images of heaven and earth, we can further "refer to things", "know", "transfer notes" and "pictophonetic characters", which is the theory of "Six Books" founded by Xu Shen in Shuowen Jiezi in the Eastern Han Dynasty. The second is abstract symbolization. Because everything in heaven and earth has its own elements of beauty, the Chinese characters created from it also have their own "innate beauty". When writing Chinese characters, our ancestors paid attention to the correctness of ideographic and ideographic forms and beautified Chinese characters with their own aesthetic consciousness. After thousands of years of practice, by the Wei and Jin Dynasties, five forms of Chinese characters (seal script and cursive script) had been finalized and perfected; The techniques and artistic rules of the "three elements" of Chinese character writing (pen, writing and composition) have been formed and perfected. China's calligraphy art with Chinese characters as the carrier has always had both practical and ornamental value.

The essential feature of China's calligraphy is "image", which is the most concise materialized form of China's traditional cultural thought. It is the most artistic treasure with national characteristics that the Chinese nation has dedicated to the treasure house of human culture and art. As "national art", China calligraphy has always been the carrier of Chinese national spirit and national soul. It is the most unique and self-contained art category in China.

Today, with the wide application of computers, not only people in countries and regions within the cultural circle of Chinese characters are still keen on the study and research of China's calligraphy, but also many intellectuals in countries and regions outside the cultural circle of Chinese characters have shown strong interest in China's calligraphy, a mysterious culture. Knowledge and researchers spread all over the world.

As the mother country of China's calligraphy, people have turned the calligraphy craze that started 26 years ago into a calm, steady and sustained calligraphy study and popularization, and a real calligraphy education and research system construction.

An Introduction to Calligraphy compiled by Mr. Zhang Hu for primary and middle school students is one of the achievements of this construction. The book has been selected as "Ten Thousand Villages Stack Project" by relevant leading departments. As the cover of the book shows: "The etymology is true cursive seal script, which is easy to understand and learn". After reading the whole book, you will feel that this book is really a golden beam for later learning and can "lead you into the world of calligraphy".

Mr Zhang Hu is a famous editor and writer. His beautiful prose, novels, essays, lyrical, poetic and philosophical language have intoxicated many friends. In this book on calligraphy, he maintained his long-established language style. Readers can easily understand the mystery of calligraphy and peel bamboo shoots layer by layer with his explanations and comments.

For decades, Mr. Zhang Hu has fixed a large part of his research topics on calligraphy creation and the discussion of artistic laws. He is an influential calligrapher at home and abroad. He put his understanding, feeling and experience of the formal beauty of calligraphy brushwork, word formation and composition in all chapters of this book. A few years ago, a publishing house in Beijing published a set of "Little Books for Everyone", and invited a group of university experts to write popular books, which were very academic, scientific and popular, and were well received by readers. Zhang Hu's Introduction to Calligraphy is such a small book for everyone. Calligraphy everyone popularizes calligraphy with a small book summed up from personal artistic practice, and speaks calligraphy heart-to-heart with primary and secondary school students and calligraphy lovers. I believe that friends who have learned this book "Introduction to Calligraphy" with real experience of calligraphers, old and young, will get information by themselves in the written conversation with the author and in the process of writing at their desks, and gradually step into the world of calligraphy art.

Buddhists say "measure yourself and measure people" and "Bodhisattva". The value of Zhang Hu's Introduction to Calligraphy lies in measuring one's own experience in the field of China's calligraphy, and measuring one's arrival at the other side.

Famous critic Niu Zhiqiang:

On a sunny morning after snow, I received an invitation to "Zhang Hu Northwest Photography Calligraphy Exhibition", which was really a surprise! Zhang Hu is a literary reporter for Beijing Daily. How did he start taking pictures? In addition, he went to the northwest with the Beijing press corps last autumn and brought it back only a month ago. He can make a film festival in such a short time!

I hurried to the working people's cultural palace. In the long two rows of windows on the red wall, I enjoyed more than 20 works by Zhang Hu/kloc-0. Seriously, I saw it, and I entered the country! The bustling Bazaar in Kashgar, the consumption of cattle in Qinghai, the old Hui people playing cards, the little Lama in Ta 'er Temple with childishness, the singing and dancing under the grape trellis, the Yellow River Dam in Qingtongxia, the beautiful harvest scenery of "Lycium barbarum trees are red in August and pearls are dazzling", and the simple and exquisite gold-plated cattle have all brought me to a vast and magnificent place. As far as each work is concerned, the sense of reality, the angle, composition, atmosphere and image of the picture, the brush and ink, structure, momentum and charm of calligraphy also attract me deeply; And the overall idea of the exhibition (also reflected in this episode)-omni-directional, multi-angle, changeable form, color composition, combining photography, literature and calligraphy in one furnace, giving me a fresh and rich aesthetic feeling.

When I learned that Zhang Hu only used a Minolta camera, commonly known as a "fool", and his calligraphy works were only written in the studio, I looked at him with a slightly regretful smile. His three generations, six mouths and more than 20 square meters of residence emerged. Being illuminated by the lights all night can't help but hurt!

Oh, ordinary, hard, busy and happy life, but tempered a keen aesthetic intuition!

What a precious spiritual wealth!

The difference between man and literature lies in spirit. Zhang Hu's hard work has long been well-known among the capital press and amateur writers.

On this trip to the northwest, he did not have an interview task. But in addition to photography, he also wrote four notes and published nearly100000 words of travel prose. As soon as he set foot on the westbound train, he set foot on the string and took the lead in reporting the new thing of Muslim seat reform on the train to the people of the capital. Green, sweet, and new, Wan Li Road, full of ideas, endless. He painted the color of the Yellow River, sketched the dance in Dunhuang, revealed the psychology of "fellow villagers" in Xinjiang, and showed the amorous feelings under the sun, the moon and the mountains. He searched for treasure in Tibetan medicine, showed the dedication of pioneers among dancers and writers, praised national unity from the marriage of Han and Tibetan families, praised the party's policies from Yinchuan Mosque and Lycium barbarum garden at the foot of Helan Mountain, and the image of a female guide Haridan was so touching.

These works are both news works and literary works. They are not only true and reliable, but also records of times, society and life. They are also full of emotion and have certain aesthetic value. In my opinion, it is not enough to explain these hasty chapters only by the professional sensitivity of journalists and the diligence of amateur writers. This comes from Hu Zhang's sense of social responsibility and his love for the motherland and the Chinese nation. Ma Zicai, a poet in the Song Dynasty, commented on Sima Qianyun: "A glass of drunkenness can swallow the breeze of Wucheng in the south of the Yangtze River; Whistling with a sword can absorb the power of Zhao Yan Qin Long and then return to writing and writing. " It is the great real life that broadens the author's horizon, ignites the author's enthusiasm and cultivates the author's mind, so that the author's feelings can actively capture and refine the essence of things and reflect life so beautifully.

This is a tribute to the northwest.

This is a feeling of praising the northwest.

For people, love is better than appearance. Although Zhang Hu is nearly middle-aged, his enthusiasm in his youth has not diminished. All his friends call him "nothing". As the name implies, he is really full of energy. It is with this "tiger" strength that he became a self-taught scholar from an amateur literary author through hard work. Twenty years ago, he was the author who attended the National Congress of Young Amateur Literary Creators. 1982, his novel "Housing Distribution" won the National Excellent Short Story Award for Workers; His novel All Smiles has also been adapted into TV series, movies and plays. His calligraphy with few words and free and easy is unique, which won the appreciation of the older generation of calligraphers and participated in the calligraphy exchanges between China and Japan many times. He was also elected as the director of China Calligraphers Association. Extensive knowledge and various artistic accomplishments have created his upright, wise, profound and open-minded temperament. This is very valuable in the profession of journalists.

What is more valuable is his modesty and prudence. He always smiles apologetically when praising people. He knows that the goal is far away and needs to move forward tirelessly.

When I prefaced this comprehensive anthology by Comrade Zhang Hu, I was really a little scared. The famous preface has a long history! I am a mortal, how can I shoulder this heavy responsibility! Study its words carefully, appreciate its art, write carefully, change its draft several times, and finally this "preface"

I hope my humble pen can clarify these two episodes, briefly express the spirit of Zhang Hu, and play a role in attracting jade. (Beijing, June 1986)

The famous writer Ceng Zhe:

I have read the poems about the northwest sung by the ancients: "The desert is lonely and the smoke is straight, and the long river sets the yen", "The flag is painted with dark snow, and the wind is whistling and drumming" and "first frost's clear horse is still there, and the moon is bright and the flute is guarding the building" have fascinated me and stirred my thoughts for a long time. Ah, the great northwest, the ancient and distant great northwest, what should you look like today?

After reading Zhang Hu's "Northwest Customs", I got a satisfactory answer, and my thoughts were touched again for a long time.

This is a collection of prose communication, photography and calligraphy. According to the author, "it's a hodgepodge book, a bit like Xinjiang Uygur mutton rice-grab it." This is naturally the author's modest words, but it also captures the characteristics of this book-illustrated. Among the few publications introducing northwest China, this book is unique.

Open the first page of the text and read it in turn. I was fascinated by the author's simple and vivid narrative, and I really couldn't stop. I saw the Yellow River flowing to the east. Saw the strong camel grass and Elaeagnus angustifolia; Saw the symbol of Yinchuan-Nanguan Mosque; I saw the deep red and crystal-clear medlar, and He Lan Yan, who was "as fine as Venus"; Saw Zhang Xianliang and Meng Weizai; While watching Kanerjing, Yak, Bazaar, Baked South and Dunhuang Dance, I was dazzled by the corals, jadeites, pearls and agates. Northwest China is no longer as vast as it was in ancient times. In the hands of builders, it has changed, become so beautiful and rich, masculine and feminine coexist, shining everywhere with the glory of the party's policies and the hearts of the people. If the description of these words is combined with the pictures and calligraphy in the book, people will realize this more truly and deeply.

Not only that, the author made an all-round observation of the northwest, and sometimes sketched several interesting pictures for us with a relaxed and even humorous style. The protagonist of the picture is naturally the owner of the northwest. "Hometown in Xinjiang" said: "We visited the farmers' market and were called" Hometown "by Uygur businessmen wearing flower hats. I wish the business was done. When the business fails, the Uighur "hometown" will shout:' Don't say anything you don't understand!' Bazaar Street said: "We visited Bazaar (market) at the foot of Hongshan Mountain in Urumqi, and visited a middle-aged woman with a Shanghai accent in Jinjin snack bar. She wanted to drum up business, but we asked her how much money she could earn a day. She was speechless. Looking at me and my colleagues up and down, my tone softened:' Are you from the tax bureau? "These are all in stitches. The author also wrote a girl named Halliday, who is beautiful in appearance and more beautiful in heart. When "we" found a tape left at her house and drove back to get it, Alidan's brother had already arrived by bike "panting and sweating". This is the northwest person described by the author. They are funny, alert and enthusiastic.

It is a pleasure to read "Northwest Customs" and wander around with the author's pen and camera. I hope more readers will come here to enjoy and have fun. ( 1986)

In 2003, I set up a Hope Primary School for local herdsmen in Muji Village, Muji Township, Akto County, Kizilsu Kirgiz Autonomous Prefecture, Xinjiang, on the Pamir Plateau, which is 10,000 kilometers away from Beijing and over 4,500 meters above sea level.

The traffic here is inconvenient, there is no electricity, herders live by grazing, and horses, cows, sheep and yaks are the protagonists of the pasture.

After half a year's efforts, the school was built. In Beijing, thunis e-mailed the school card "Bauhinia Primary School" inscribed by Mr. Zhang Hu, then the president of China Art Newspaper and a famous calligrapher. Everyone is helping this primary school, and I am very grateful.

I suggest that the name of this school inscribed by Mr. Zhang Hu must be written with a two-meter-long' RE', so as to stand out.

When Mr. Zhang Hu wrote "Northwest Customs", he introduced the situation in Xinjiang, which made me yearn for it. Now I have also come to Xinjiang, where he has never been, where I have been stationed for half a year and done some things. For this, I feel proud and proud.

May more people pay attention to Xinjiang! (2003)

Liu Xianyin, a scholar, painter, editor and publisher, edited and commented on Zhang Hu's calligraphy.

Zhang Hu, a famous calligrapher, is unique in China. Beautiful, free and easy, atmospheric, like flowing out of the waves. The ancients cloud; Writing is like a man. Calligraphy is also like people. Zhang Hu is frank, generous and free and easy. Naturally, beautiful, unique and atmospheric products will trickle out from the heart. It is with these "ingenious pens" that his masterpieces are well-known at home and abroad!
