Woodblock Prints Copying Picture Materials-Steps of Woodblock Prints

What are the representative works of woodcut illustration? Since the novels of the Ming Dynasty came out, woodcut illustrations have gradually developed. The woodcut illustrations represented by Chen Laolian are very decorative and have made great artistic achievements in modeling, lines and composition. His Nine Songs, The West Chamber, The Water Margin and Bo Gu Leaves are all excellent woodcut decorative illustrations. In addition, there are many famous painters involved in the creation of book illustrations, such as Tang Yin's The West Chamber and Biography of Women, as well as the works of Joe Cheng, Liu, Ding, Gu Zhengyi and Liu Suming, which have brought unprecedented prosperity to printmaking.

Woodblock printmaking tutorial Woodblock printmaking tutorial is as follows:

1: Choose the board, mainly the size of the board. Mali woodcut is generally used for type, of course, its essence is a good five-layer board, which can be bought in the building materials market. Buy one yourself. If all of them are cut into A4 size, each piece will cost more than one yuan.

2: Polishing, (the simplest step) The surface of the plate you just bought is generally a little rough. It needs to be polished with fine sandpaper. Pay attention to uniform force when grinding. By the way, you can also polish the edges. (This step is for printing. )

3. Waxing: (the key step) is ordinary candles, of course, you can also buy industrial wax. Smooth the board, break the wax into small particles and spread it evenly, then iron it with an electric iron. Until the wax reaches half the thickness of the board.

4. Composition, (the most brain-consuming step) You can compose the draft first, and then print it on the board with carbon paper. If you draw a draft directly on the board, switch to step 3, draw a draft first and then wax it.

5: carving. Because the board itself has fibers in it, only the waxed board will not be fuzz when carving. The knife is ready, just like peeling an apple.

6: dyeing ink. (The most troublesome step). Find a glass plate first, or a bigger floor. Pour a little printing ink on the glass plate, then roll the ink on the glass plate with a roller (moderate size) and roll it back and forth repeatedly until the ink on the roller is uniform.

Then use a roller to roll back and forth on the board, and be sure to spread it evenly. If the board is not smooth, you can polish it again, otherwise the ink will be uneven. Finally, after inking is finished, there will be a little ink left in the place that needs to be left blank, which can be modified with a carving knife.

7: print. (Be careful) Leather paper is usually used. Actually, any paper will do. Just the right size. When laying, you can roll the paper into barrels first. Just like sticking a mobile phone film, spread the paper evenly on the board and then roll it repeatedly with "mushrooms". In fact, you can use the wooden handle of the meat cleaver, as long as it is smooth and hard. If it is leather paper, it is enough until the back of the paper turns black and uniform.

8. Receiving the job (the most fulfilling step), you can repeatedly print multiple sheets and mount them.

Steps of woodcut printing 1. First, draw the colors in advance, as shown below.

2. Then the round knife cuts the thick line, the triangular knife cuts the thin line, and the flat knife and the oblique knife are responsible for the large area, as shown below.

3. Then roll the ink evenly on the engraved printed matter, as shown in the figure below.

4. Observe the uniformity of ink from the side, as shown in the figure below.

5. Expand the printing paper, as shown in the figure below.

6. Always press the printing paper, as shown in the figure below.

7. That's it. See the effect, as shown in the figure below.

Various production methods of woodcut prints

A, line carving method

One of the oldest methods of intaglio engraving, using solids.

A sharp knife

Scribe lines on a copper plate. The carved lines are bright and sharp. The layout can be carved very delicately. This method was used in previous paper money.

Woodblock printing

Yes, there are still a few stamps carved in this way.

Second, dry engraving method

The copper layout is directly engraved with a needle, and the lines engraved are different from the line engraving method. The needle tip only cuts through the layout, and there are copper thorns beside the line. Therefore, when the layout is inked, the copper scraps also contain ink, and the printed back line has fluffy light ink, and the visual effect is soft and beautiful.

Third, the corrosion method

1. Covers the layout of copper, zinc, steel and other materials that can be corroded by acid.

Prevention law

The main component of preservative is asphalt,

resin

And beeswax. Then carve an image on it with a needle. Where the needle reaches, the preservative is scraped off, exposing the page and finally immersed.

nitric acid

In the solution, the exposed part is corroded.

2. Because the etching time and concentration of nitric acid solution are different, the depth and thickness of etched lines are also different. Corroded prints are generally etched layer by layer for many times, so the colors are very rich and the levels are very clear, which is the most commonly used plate-making method for gravure printing.

Third, Melandin.

It is necessary to use a chisel to make the layout of Mailuoding. This is a round steel chisel with sharp and dense teeth. Shake it with your hand, and the layout will be completely punctured and covered with spots. Roll ink to print one.

velvet

Like black. Then scrape the page with a scraper (that is, full of copper thorns), gently scrape it to dark gray, then scrape it to light gray, and repeatedly scrape it to white without scraping it all black.

Fourth, relief methods.

Let a part of the layout be deeply corroded, and the corrosion area will be larger, but instead of rolling ink on it, it will be directly imprinted on an intaglio machine, and the paper will present a relief colorless pattern. This method is generally only suitable for local use.

Verb (abbreviation of verb) soft soil foundation method

1. Fix the preservative made of asphalt, rosin and beeswax on the layout to form a hard film, and add a proper amount of sheep fat to the preservative to soften the film. After rolling the soft ground on the layout, cover a piece of paper, draw it on the back of the paper with a pencil, uncover the paper, and suck the soft ground where there is a pen path, and the copper surface will be exposed on the board, and the nature of its lines is exactly the same as that drawn with a pencil.

2. Some physical objects, such as textiles, mesh patterns, leaves, paper balls and lines, can also be printed on soft ground, and the images of the physical objects can be transferred to paper after corrosion.
