In the 26th year of Qin Shihuang, Xiapi County was established, and Han Xin was named King of Chu by Emperor Gaozu Liu Bang, with Pi as the capital. In the first year of Northern Zhou Dynasty, Emperor Jingdi called Pizhou, which was the beginning of Xiapizhou.

Pizhou was established in Sui Dynasty and later changed to Xiapi County. In the Tang Dynasty, the abandoned county was restored to Pizhou and later changed to Xiapi County. Yuan, Ming and Qing Dynasties still called Pizhou. In the first year of the Republic of China, Feizhou moved to Pixian County. 1In July, 992, Pizhou City withdrew from the county to establish the city.
