Jinnan Flower Drum in Shanxi Folk Literature and Art

Jinnan Flower Drum is a Wanrong folk dance art that spreads on the bank of the Yellow River in the southwest of the mountain. At the same time, Wanrong Flower Drum also spread in Hejin, Fushan, Jishan, Yicheng and Wenxi in the southwest of the mountain. Because it involves a wide range, it is called Jinnan Flower Drum.

According to legend, Wanrong Flower Drum was introduced to Wanrong in the early Ming Dynasty by Fengyang people who fled abroad to perform arts. The drum action of Wanrong's ancient paintings is bold and unrestrained. The performance of ancient paintings can be divided into high drum (chest drum), low drum (waist drum) and multi-drum (one person carries six or seven drums on his back and beats drums up and down while jumping). The accompaniment instruments of ancient paintings are only percussion instruments such as gongs and cymbals. Drums are varied and flexible, which is dizzying.
