Disadvantages of methanol fuel

Methanol fuel is industrial methanol or fuel methanol with denatured alcohol additives, which can replace gasoline and diesel oil and be used in various motor vehicles and cookers. The main raw materials for methanol production are coal, natural gas, coalbed methane and coke oven gas.

Disadvantages of methanol fuel:

1, the latent heat of methanol vaporization is large, which easily leads to poor low-temperature start-up performance of methanol fuel, and corresponding measures need to be taken in winter.

2. The mixture of methanol and gasoline forms a * * * boiling substance, and the vapor pressure of methanol gasoline increases significantly near the methanol ratio 15%. When the ambient temperature is high, methanol gasoline is easy to form gas resistance in the oil circuit, which leads to poor fuel supply for automobiles.

3. Incomplete combustion of methanol is easy to cause unconventional pollution emission, among which formaldehyde emission is higher than that of conventional gasoline vehicles, which is easy to cause automobile three-way catalyst poisoning.

4. The products of incomplete combustion of methanol contain acidic substances, which may easily lead to early acidification of engine lubricating oil.
