Why should we stick Spring Festival couplets in the Spring Festival to respect and inherit traditional culture?
Spring Festival couplets originated from ancient peach symbols. Fu Tao is a rectangular red board hanging on both sides of the gate. Write the names "Shen Tu" and "Lei Yu" on it to ward off evil spirits. During the Spring Festival, people always replace the old ones with new ones. Wang Anshi's poem "Thousands of households always get rid of old peaches for new ones" is about this.
Spring Festival couplets began in the Five Dynasties. In 964 AD, Meng Changjun, the late ruler of Shu, first asked the bachelor Xin to write an inscription on the peach board, but he thought his writing was unstable, so he wrote "New Year, Festival Promise". "Changchun by himself. Since then, carving peach characters has evolved into writing Spring Festival couplets. Later, due to the mass production of paper, people gradually replaced red boards with paper. This is the beginning of posting Spring Festival couplets.
We call the red Spring Festival couplets posted on the two sides of the gate, the middle door and the window "couplets". Some people will write their own couplets, while others will buy them. The antithesis in the Spring Festival couplets is auspicious.
There is the word "horizontal batch" in the Central Committee of the couplet, and there are several "hanging money" under the horizontal batch. On the door or wall of the room, the metropolis sticks a diamond-shaped "fighting square". Generally speaking, the words "Fu" and "Chun" are the most frequently posted words. Some people will intentionally put the words "Fu" and "Chun" upside down, because it symbolizes "Fu arrives" and "Chun arrives".
Some people not only paste Spring Festival couplets on both sides of the gate, but also paste portraits of door gods on the left and right sides of the gate. Spring Festival couplets posted on New Year's Eve will remain until they naturally fall off or fade.
