Do Hong Kong require the actors who play monks to be vegetarian?
Hong Kong does not require vegetarians to play monks. If the characters in the film need to show their spiritual vegetarian beliefs, or in order to shoot a story that needs to show the monk's practice, the film production company or director may ask the actors to follow the vegetarian diet when shooting. This requirement is usually because of the decision made to enhance the authenticity of the role, not because of the requirements of Hong Kong culture or tradition.
