How to maintain an electric car? These maintenance knowledge to know!

The biggest difference between an electric car and a traditional fuel car is the change in drive from an oil circuit to an electric circuit. Therefore, if you want to extend the life of your electric car, it is very important to maintain the motor and battery.

Normally, the maintenance items for electric vehicles are power battery system, air conditioning system, steering system, body part, cooling system, braking system, chassis part and charging system,*** eight major maintenance items.

Domestic EV brands usually focus on the car's battery pack and high-voltage wiring harness. The quality of the high-voltage wiring harness is directly related to whether the vehicle can run normally, as well as the safety of the driver and passengers. Therefore, the inspection of high-voltage harnesses for electric vehicles is the most important part of maintenance. Usually, when testing the high-voltage wiring harness, the staff first separates the wiring harness from the power controller, and then tests them one by one with a multimeter. If the test results are within the regulations, it is a pass. However, most automakers have a 5-year warranty on high-voltage harnesses, which requires our attention.

The battery is the most important component in an electric vehicle. The process of checking the battery pack is essentially similar to troubleshooting a vehicle. Staff connect the vehicle to a computer via a data cable and then use specialized software to get a clear picture of other information, such as battery charge, voltage, CAN bus communication status, temperature, and so on. If there is a problem with a single battery, it is likely to affect the operating status of the entire battery pack.

Next, check the motor coolant and battery coolant. These two types of coolant are essentially the same color as the fuel engine coolant, which is installed in a cabin container and is usually pink or green.

Special attention should be paid to changing the brake fluid and transmission gear oil in electric vehicles every 2 years or 40,000 kilometers, and the air conditioning coolant every 4 years or 100,000 kilometers. Organic acid coolant also needs to be replaced. Replacement criteria should be based on the forerunner in time or mileage.

As for the maintenance intervals of new energy vehicles, the maintenance cycle is basically once a year or 20,000 kilometers (whichever comes first). As for the maintenance cost in China, it is usually 200~300 RMB/time, which is purely for testing, excluding labor cost and replacement of wearing parts.
