Self-analysis of one of your emotional problems using the ABCDE model of Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REMT)

The ABCDE model of Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REMT), created by American psychologist Albert Ellis, is based on Ellis' "ABC Theory".

The "ABC theory" refers to the idea that emotional and behavioral disorders are not caused directly by a triggering event, but rather by the beliefs of the individual experiencing the event, caused by the individual's incorrect perceptions and evaluations of the event, which ultimately lead to emotional and behavioral consequences in a given situation, which is known as the ABC theory. It is usually assumed that reactions to emotional and behavioral consequences are directly caused by the motivating event, i.e., A causes C, whereas the ABC theory assumes that A is only an indirect cause of C, and that B, the beliefs arising from the individual's perception and evaluation of A, is the direct cause.

According to this theory, the ABCDE model is about replacing irrational thinking (irrational thinking) with rational thinking (reasonable thinking) by debating it and helping the patient to change in order to reduce the emotional distress and consequent behavioral abnormalities caused by irrational beliefs.

For my personal example, I used to have very low self-confidence and extreme low self-esteem.

Very low self-confidence and extreme low self-esteem this is C. What causes it? Through careful analysis and reflection, in the 2nd grade of elementary school I performed poorly in a school speech contest and was ridiculed by others. This is A. Stimulated by A and transformed into C through B. After being ridiculed by others, I felt very ashamed and sad. Because of this incident, I had doubts about my own value, thought I was worthless, and gave up on myself, not daring to express myself anymore. This kind of extreme thinking is B.

After sorting out the ABCs, the next stage is to repair the passage. The mind debates itself, realizing that one bad performance should not amplify its negative effects, and that this kind of thinking is wrong. Abandon the extreme thinking B, at the same time, dig their own other advantages, the self-recognition. I gradually out of the shadow of the A incident, no longer low self-esteem, become now optimistic and confident me.
