What are the seven processes of mahogany furniture?

1, redwood drying process

Logs can't be dried directly, so they should be sawed first. The dried board should be further screened to prevent the cracked and deformed wood from entering the next process.

The moisture content of mahogany furniture is directly related to the adaptability of furniture to seasonal changes. Therefore, firstly, the wood is repeatedly dried, and finally the moisture content of the wood is reduced to 8%- 12%, so that the mahogany furniture made in this way is not easy to deform and crack.

2, material selection and cutting

After the wood is dried, the carpenter will select the board from the dried materials according to the material list of the required wood quantity and size.

The selection of materials is mainly based on the different parts of furniture production, and the wood with appropriate size and shape is selected. At the same time, many factors such as whether the patterns of two connected panels are symmetrical and whether the texture trends are consistent are also considered. After selecting each plate, the material is cut off. First, cut off the white skin at both ends and the unusable leftover materials, then cut the cut board again according to the size of the bill of materials, and then plane the cut board to facilitate the next accurate size.

3, mahogany mortise and tenon technology

The tenon-mortise structure is the characteristic of China classical furniture. Compared with many modern furniture, tenon-mortise structure is more natural and durable. Seeing the legendary mortise and tenon making, I have to admire the exquisite craftsmanship of the ancients. After the master digs the mortise and tenon, he has to repeatedly check whether the size is appropriate, whether it is skewed or warped, which is what the industry calls "recognizing mortise and tenon". If it is found to be skewed or warped, it needs to be adjusted in time.

4, mahogany carving process

It can be said that in the whole process of mahogany furniture, carving technology accounts for more than half. After the mortise and tenon process is completed, it will enter the process of carving patterns, and mahogany furniture has very strict requirements for hand carving. The combination of woodworking technology and carving technology in mahogany furniture can better reflect the effect of * * * and the same result. In the carving workshop, every sculptor should concentrate on carving. Once a knife is wrongly carved, it is difficult to repair the whole board, which has a great influence on the quality of finished mahogany furniture.

5, mahogany furniture assembly

Furniture assembly is called "labor saving" in the industry, that is, the carved parts are assembled into finished furniture by mortise and tenon structure. Because of the heavy weight of mahogany furniture, if it is placed on uneven ground during assembly, the stress on the legs will be uneven, which will easily cause the deformation of the furniture. Once the furniture is assembled, it is difficult to correct it. Therefore, when the carpenter "saves his life", he will do it on the flat and clean ground so as to judge whether the finished furniture is properly installed in time.

6, mahogany scraping process

After assembly, it is necessary to scrape and grind the surface, which is an important step in the manufacture of mahogany furniture.

Many surfaces of the furniture we see need to be polished by hand. Generally, it is scraped with a scraper first, and then polished with finer and finer sandpaper several times, and the traces of coarse sandpaper will always be worn off. After scraping, the semi-finished furniture lines are smooth, the surface is flat without wave feeling, the texture is smooth and clear, and the hand feels smooth and comfortable.

7, mahogany waxing process

After the scrapped parts pass the inspection, they can be removed and waxed. Wipe the melted beeswax evenly on the surface of the parts with soft pure cotton cloth. When polishing, the master has to do it repeatedly with great strength to ensure that the wax liquid penetrates well and presents beautiful wood grain and color.

Waxing technology of mahogany

After the first waxing, when the wood completely absorbs the wax, it needs to be re-polished to remove the floating wax on the surface of mahogany furniture and keep the wax infiltrating into the wood grain, so that the wood is bright and not dry. This process has to be repeated many times until the mahogany furniture presents a moist and simple temperament, so that the mahogany furniture can be treated successfully before leaving the factory.
