1. The circuit breaker consists of a pair of contacts and a cam, which is integrated with the distributor. When the cam starts to rotate, the convex angle of the cam pushes the contact away and the low-voltage circuit is cut off. After the cam lobe rotates, the contact is closed under the action of the spring, and the low voltage circuit is connected again. Therefore, the number of lobes of the cam is consistent with the number of cylinders of the engine. Crankshaft rotates twice, distributor cam rotates once, and each cylinder is ignited once.

2. The distributor distributes high-voltage electricity and ignites each cylinder according to the prescribed ignition sequence. It consists of distributor cover and distributor head, which is driven by distributor shaft to rotate, and high voltage is transmitted to the electrode on the cover through distributor head and to the spark plug through high voltage line.

3. The capacitor is used to weaken the spark when the circuit breaker contacts are separated, and at the same time enhance the secondary voltage.

4. Before assembling the distributor, the parts must be cleaned first.

Installation of distributor:

1. Lubricate the casing bushing and install the distributor, centrifugal block assembly and its gasket into the casing. The clearance between the shaft and the bushing is about 0.02-0.07 mm. Lubricate the cam and bottom plate hole and install it on the shaft. Adjust the omnidirectional clearance of the distributor shaft, which is generally 0.08-0.25 mm. Install the spring lock ring and its felt center into the concave hole at the distributor shaft end and drop a few drops of engine oil.

2. Install the circuit breaker and the fixed disk assembly so that the cam can abut against the front edge of the contact. Adjust the contact clearance of the circuit breaker, which is generally between 0.35 and 0.45 mm. The eccentric screw of the contact bracket can be fixed by rotating the electric appliance, so that the coaxiality error of the two contacts is not greater than 0.1mm..

3. There should be no radial clearance on the distributor shaft, which can be detected by rotating the cam and shaft to make the contact in a closed state, and then pushing the cam and shaft to the insulating block of the separation arm. If the contact is broken, it means that there is a radial gap.

4. Install the gear or coupling at the end of the distributor shaft and fix it with a pin or screw. The capacitor can be installed by installing the distributor head at the shaft end of the distributor with the circuit breaker in the open position. Check the electrode of the distributor to see if it is aligned with the electrode of the distributor cover.
