What is Laoting Drum?

China Quyi Quzhong. Originated in Laoting County, Hebei Province. Popular in eastern Hebei and parts of North China and Northeast China. At first, local folk songs were used as singing tunes, and gradually developed into fast, Chinese and slow three tunes. In the early years of Guangxu, Laoting Wenrong first stipulated the types of plates, such as large plate, two-sex plate, three-sex plate and scattered plate. , and replace the board with iron clapping. Later, artists such as He Wang laid the foundation for the development of Laoting Drum. Artists such as Qi, Chen Yonghuan, Hu Shaolan, Han Xiangpu and Jin contributed to the further reform and development of Laoting Drum. Laoting Drum is divided into East Road and West Road. East Road takes Laoting as the center and Han Xiangpu as the representative. West Road takes Tangshan as the center and Jin as the representative. Singing generally consists of four parts: opening cavity, connecting cavity, main cavity and tail cavity. Lyrics are mainly composed of seven sentences and cross sentences. The form of performance is a person standing and talking, playing drums by himself. Accompaniment instruments are mainly three strings, and Hu Si, bamboo flute, erhu and dulcimer can be added. Short and medium songs are mainly sung, while Long song is mainly speaking, supplemented by singing. Among the traditional repertoire, short stories include Copying Red and Shuang Suoshan, and long stories include Yang Jiajiang and Hu Jiajiang. New tracks include "plain artillery fire" and so on.
