Model essay on fashion design: the beauty of proportion in fashion design

abstract

The generation and formation of the overall aesthetic feeling of fashion design can not be separated from the harmonious proportional relationship. Proportion is an important factor to determine the size of all units that make up a work of art and the relationship between them. This paper expounds and analyzes how to adjust the proportional relationship between various elements in clothing modeling to achieve the best proportional relationship between people and clothing, and shows the proportional beauty in clothing design.

key word

Clothing; Design; proportion

I. Proportion

"Proportion" is one of the laws of formal beauty (diversity, unity, balance, symmetry, contrast, proportion, rhythm, subject and object, irregularity, harmony and so on). ). "In any kind of artistic aesthetic activity, proportion essentially refers to a corresponding relationship between object form and people's related psychological experience. When an art form is consistent with the psychological experience of rapid adaptation formed by people's long-term contact with these mathematical relations because of some inherent mathematical relations, this form can be called proportional form "(Aesthetic Dictionary P48). Proportion refers to the quantitative relationship of the length or area between the whole and the part of the molded object, that is, the balance relationship produced by the difference of quality and quantity between big and small, long and short, light and heavy. When this relationship is in balance, it will produce a beautiful effect.

Second, the application of proportion in fashion design

Proportion is very important in fashion design. Designers usually design from the perspective of proportion (focusing on color, pattern, fabric, texture, decorative accessories, body shape, etc.). ) make the proportion of clothing more in line with the change of human visual proportion.

The golden section ratio is applied to the proportion of clothes, that is, the average back length is equal to 37cm, assuming that the back length is 1 and the skirt length is equal to 1.6 18 times of the back length, the following formula is obtained: 37cmx1.618 = 59. Based on the back length is equal to 37 cm, the skirt length is equal to 60 cm. If the shoulder width of the skirt is 40cm and the length of the coat is 60cm, then the length-width ratio of this dress is 60: 40 or 3: 2. In artistic creation and aesthetic activities, proportion essentially refers to the quantitative relationship between various elements within the formal object. The length of jacket and skirt, sleeves and back, sleeves and jacket, etc. Using this scale, you will get the characteristics of proportional beauty. But when designing clothes, we should consider that the wearer is not necessarily a standard figure. In order to make up or correct the shortcomings and deficiencies of body shape as much as possible, we must reconsider the proportion of clothing by using the modeling law of proportional beauty, pay attention to the fact that clothing is worn by the human body and conforms to the beauty of the human body, and find out its regular proportional beauty, which is the key to proportional design.

Fashion design needs a good proportion. Proportion is an important factor to determine the size of all units that make up a work of art and the relationship between them. The length and width of clothing, as well as the cutting of each part and the division of decoration of each part are proportional. The size, length and quantity of clothing are proportional to the shape, and the most beautiful ratio is required, such as the ratio of collar to whole body size, the ratio of trousers to body length, the ratio of shoulder width to garment length, the ratio of pockets, armholes, shoulders, collars, pockets and buttons. The proportions of all shapes in size reflect the law of uniform change.

A well-fitting garment must have aesthetic feeling, and the proportional relationship between the parts must be harmonious. The proportional segmentation of clothing has played a role in correcting the imbalance of human body. Such as the proportional relationship between the length of clothing and the length of human body (head length, trunk length, leg length, etc.). ), and the proportional division relationship between clothing pieces. Facts tell us that whether it is human body or clothing, whether it is men's or women's clothing, underwear or coat, the proportion of harmony and beauty generally conforms to the golden section method. It is for this reason that people are often dissatisfied with the fashion design that loses its proportional relationship. Generally speaking, when a person's lower body is long, it will appear in proportion. Therefore, young women wearing tight-fitting thin clothes, long skirts, trousers and high heels can fully show their graceful figure, which is in line with the golden ratio.

The proportion of clothes should match the proportion of the human body, but it does not mean that the true proportion of the human body should be reproduced through clothes. Most people's bodies are not perfect, so for women with low waist and hip circumference, when making a waist skirt, the waist line should be appropriately raised compared with the actual waist position of the human body to correct the proportion of the lower body. High-heeled shoes also have the function of correcting the proportion of upper and lower body. First, the shape of the clothing itself also has the problem of whether the proportion is appropriate. For example, the ratio of clothing length to circumference, that is, the ratio of length to fat, will reflect various plastic arts styles. The width ratio of collar, the width ratio of patch pocket, the height ratio of waist line and the position ratio of dividing line are all related to whether the shape of a garment is harmonious and beautiful. It is a common proportion to wear a suit, and it also shows different wearing effects. There are also the size of the hem of the wavy skirt, the depth of the neckline, the width of the lapel of the suit and so on. Secondly, there is a proportion problem between decorations and human body and clothes. For example, the size of earrings and necklaces, the size of umbrellas, hats and bags, and the size of clothing patterns should all form a good proportional relationship with the human body and clothes. In a word, proportion is everywhere in human body, clothing, decorations and their relationships. Proportion is an indispensable factor in clothing design, clothing wearing and clothing appreciation.

However, it is not enough to use the proportion of clothing strictly according to the golden section method, because clothing modeling contains many factors, involving the configuration of color, pattern, raw materials and decorative accessories, and more importantly, taking care of the wearer's body shape. The human body has lines of different shapes, such as straight lines, curves and arcs. These lines show the bodybuilding of the human body. Costume aesthetics used these most expressive and decorative lines to describe the fitness and suitability of wearing. So, when designing clothes. We should also have an overall concept of proportion.

In clothing modeling, if we can skillfully use the proportional relationship of area, length and quantity, it will make the clothing look harmonious and play a decorative role in setting off the body. For example, the ratio of the length of a coat with a normal figure of 5:8= shoulder width: garment length will get better results. For example, a stout woman, it is best not to wear short, square, horizontal or flowery clothes, should choose simple clothes with narrow shoulders and low neckline, and the complex colors of the upper and lower parts should be basically the same; For example, for tall and thin women, the principle of choosing clothes is just the opposite. Using the square and stripe design of large flowers can expand the horizontal layering of your body shape and shorten your height, thus making up for the asymmetry of your body proportion. For example, for women with flat breasts, to make their breasts look fuller, you can choose tight upper styles and soft fabrics, and add some folds to the shoulders and chest sides of the coat to achieve better results. For example, women with short legs look better in skirts than trousers.

The proportion of clothing is also reflected in the division of plates and the setting of color components. Therefore, we can refer to the proportional form of the "golden law" in design. If the design is over the shoulder before and after, and the shoulder height is improper, it will destroy the coordinated proportional relationship between the upper and lower pieces. For example, color also has a sense of weight. When designing color blocks, we should pay attention to the balance effect between color blocks and color proportions, otherwise the proportion of components will lose its sense of coordination.

In practical application, proportion refers to the proportional relationship between length and width, whole and part. The length and width of a rectangle are different, forming a certain proportion. The same width and different lengths have different proportions, or three to two, or four to two, and so on. The whole and part are the proportional relationship between the length and width of clothing modeling and collar, bag, sleeve and other parts.

The function of proportion is to solve one aspect of formal beauty, and the beauty of clothing includes the proportional relationship among modeling, fabric and color. The two fabrics are spliced together, and the ratio of A and B fabrics is in direct proportion. The collocation of two colors, how much weight each of A color and B color occupies, is also a proportional relationship.

The ratio of clothing style to clothing length and width is based on people's body shape.

(a) The length of sleeves depends on the length of arms, but the use of long sleeves, middle sleeves and short sleeves depends on styles. Some are relatively fixed in proportion, and some are elastic, but the longest and shortest can't exceed the arm.

(2) The height and width of the collar are determined according to the characteristics of the neck column and inclination. Men's collars are generally below the Adam's apple; Some women's clothes are more appreciated; The width and depth of fashion collar are usually determined by the length of neck, the width of shoulder and the length of body.

(3) The width of the pocket generally depends on the size and thickness of the hand, which is slightly larger than the hand by several centimeters. At present, some fashion pockets are developing towards oversize, oversize or oversize; Some of them are basically used as decorations and have no practical value, such as micro pockets on sleeves.

To sum up, the proportion of clothing must first conform to the figure of the wearer. People who wear clothes are not necessarily standard in size. In order to modify the defects of human body, the proportion of clothes must be considered.
