What does the Bird's Nest symbolize?

The Bird's Nest symbolizes the strength of our country. The components of the entire stadium structure support each other in a lattice-like framework that looks like a bird's nest made of tree branches, with a gray mineral-like steel mesh covered by a transparent membrane that contains an earthy-red bowl of stadium bleachers. Here, the traditional Chinese culture of hollowing, ceramic patterns, and the splendor and warmth of the color red blend seamlessly with the most advanced modern steel design.

The Bird's Nest, located in the southern part of the central area of Beijing Olympic Park, is the main stadium of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. The project covers a total area of 21 hectares, with approximately 91,000 spectator seats in the arena. It has held the opening and closing ceremonies of the Olympic Games and Paralympic Games, as well as the finals of track and field competitions and soccer matches. After the Olympic Games, it became a large-scale professional venue for Beijing citizens to participate in sports activities and enjoy sports entertainment, and became a landmark sports building and Olympic legacy.
