In the late 1980s, the predecessor of Sichuan Automobile Mustang was Chengdu Automobile Repair Factory, which was a state-owned enterprise and a new automobile industry. 1988, under the impetus of the local government, Chengdu Automobile Repair Factory merged with Sichuan Dongfanghong Automobile Repair Factory, Wenzhou Automobile Repair Factory and Sichuan Jinding Bus Factory to form Chengdu Light Automobile General Factory, which opened the road to modern automobile manufacturing. At that time, the automobile manufacturing industry was almost zero, and many domestic automobile manufacturing enterprises were slowly transformed from automobile repair shops. As a result, Chengdu Light Vehicle General Factory slowly ushered in the most brilliant moment.
At that time, GM mainly produced three brands of vehicles: Mustang, White Deer and Jinding. By the early 1990s, there was a great demand for automobiles in the market, especially in public security and inspection agencies all over Sichuan, who were proud of owning a wild horse. At that time, the price of a model was more than 70 thousand yuan. Even then, there are many units waiting in line to buy a car at the gate of Sichuan Automobile every day.
Among the three major brands at that time, Mustang was the most famous, mainly supplying the Sichuan market. At that time, it was a national inspection-free product, which is also the reason why Sichuan Automobile Industry Group later revived the "Wild Horse" brand. From 1992 to 1994, it was the most glorious year of Chengdu Light Vehicle General Factory, with an annual sales volume of nearly 10,000 vehicles. 1In May 1994, Chengdu Light Vehicle General Factory merged with three other wholly-owned automobile enterprises in Chengdu to form Sichuan Automobile Industry Group Corporation.

Mustang also talked about joint ventures. At that time, negotiations were held with foreign car companies such as Toyota, Mazda and Ssangyong, but in the end, due to various reasons, the joint venture could not be negotiated. With the change of the market, mainly influenced by joint venture car companies, Mustang began to decline in 1996, and its sales declined, and disappeared for a period of time in the following years.

Subsequently, with the approval of the relevant departments of Chengdu Municipal Government, Sichuan Fulin Industrial Group Co., Ltd. merged and reorganized Sichuan Automobile Industry Group Co., Ltd. as a whole, and began to carry out factory renovation and technical transformation. It has been listed as an automobile manufacturing enterprise in the 11th Five-Year Plan by the people's governments of Sichuan Province and Chengdu. For Sichuan Automobile, it has officially transformed from a state-owned enterprise to a private automobile factory.
After 202 1, although Sichuan Automobile was reorganized, it can be seen from the above that Fulin Group was unwilling to acquire Sichuan Automobile at first, but it was not until 202 1 that An Zhifu decided to gather all the strength of Fulin Group to develop automobile manufacturing. Prior to this, Sichuan Automobile began a five-year "idle period" after being acquired. By 200217th Chengdu Auto Show, the prototype of Mustang was exhibited for the first time. Its chassis is independently developed by Sichuan Automobile Co., Ltd., and its power system adopts 49 1Q engine imported from Chen Xin Mianyang Toyota 4Y technology. Configuration, reversing radar, car hands-free phone, power steering, electric rearview mirror and other facilities are complete. After the launch of the new Mustang SUV, the distribution of sales and service networks will also be launched one after another. To tell the truth, the design of this prototype was absolutely fashionable at that time. However, after Xinye Ma was a flash in the pan at the auto show, there was no news again. At that time, Sichuan Automobile didn't even have a decent production line except for the prototype. It was not until the end of 20021that Sichuan Automobile began to invest 300 million yuan to build a new production base in Longquan, covering an area of nearly 300 mu. Qingdao Zhong Yi is a factory jointly operated by China Tobacco Company and Qingdao Municipal Government. At that time, Qingdao wanted to build cars, and China Tobacco had money, so China Tobacco Company and Qingdao Municipal Government entered the automobile industry. In 1970s and 1980s, they bought four models of equipment from Rover's two product platforms, but they have been in operation for more than two years. In that year, they also produced a car called Jiefang Lubao. Using Rover chassis and Toyota 8A 1.3L engine, more than 3,000 vehicles were produced and stopped production.
At that time, Qingdao Zhong Yi's production equipment was bought for many years and never sold.
