Novel writing methods and skills

Writing skills and techniques of novels;

First, foreshadowing and foreshadowing

Any event needs reasons and premises, and setting reasons and premises is to pave the way for the following events. When writing a novel, you should first come up with a good idea, then think about what you need to do when the idea happens in the plot (necessary reasons and premises), and then write the groundwork.

Second, the driving force of plot development

1, initiative: spontaneous expression of inner feelings to meet needs and desires.

With a beautiful spoony heart, you will spontaneously produce beautiful spoony words and deeds, not for any purpose. Meet your needs and desires, and you will do things spontaneously. As long as there is something to do, there is something to write, so the plot will move forward.

2. Passive: solving problems, crises and conflicts.

The development of the story is ups and downs: if you live a quiet life for too long, problems or crises will appear. Solve them and regain a quiet life. After a while, new problems or crises will appear again. In the novel, after the sunshine, there must be wind and rain, and after the wind and rain, there must be sunshine.

The development of things is tortuous: although the road is tortuous, the general direction is forward. If there are no twists and turns, but a straight process, the story will soon end, and twists and turns can make way for longer and farther, that is, it can increase the content of the article.

Third, the narrative order.

1, order: according to the cause and effect of time and events, the narrative from the past to the future is the most basic form.

2. Flashback: Recall the past.

Don't write too many memories, because readers don't like to see too many memories, but like to see how the plot develops and want to know what the result is.

Memories in memory: from photos in the album to the past. In my past life, I recalled an earlier past from another photo.

3. Interpolation: insert subplots (auxiliary stories) to assist the main story.

Or insert the dreams or fantasies of the characters. When the characters dream, the real life does not develop forward, so it is out of order.

4. Concurrent narration: it is rarely used to separate things that happen at the same time.

Fourth, the interweaving of open and dark lines.

The bright line refers to the development and change of the plot, which is an external thing that can be seen intuitively, while the dark line is the development and change of the character's heart, which needs analysis to know. In the article of supporting ambition with things and comparing people with things, the bright line is the development and change of things, and the dark line is the emotional change implied by things.

Three elements of novel

1, character image

The core of a character is thought and character, and the angle of character description includes positive description and side description. The previous description includes appearance, language, movements, expressions, psychology, etc. Profile description usually reflects the relationship between characters and others or things, also called profile contrast.

When creating characters in novels, we can use a real artificial model to integrate some deeds of others. For example, Lu Xun said, "A model of a character has never been dedicated to a person. Often the mouth is in Zhejiang, the face is in Beijing and the clothes are in Shanxi. This is a patchwork role.

2. Story plot

The storyline refers to the whole process of the development and evolution of the events described in the work, and the general structure of the storyline is: (prologue)-beginning-development-climax-ending.

The story comes from life, is the refinement of real life, and is more concentrated and representative than real life. Events and contradictions in real life have a beginning and an end, ups and downs, and there is a certain development process, so the plot of the novel also has paragraphs and processes.

3. Environmental description

Environmental description refers to the description of people's activity environment and things background. A good novel can always make people feel immersive and empathetic, instead of being as boring as a scientific report. The author can always impress this story firmly in the reader's mind with beautiful writing, vivid description and incredible imagination. Environmental description is divided into natural environment and social environment.
