What is invisible tongue correction?

Lingual invisible correction is to stick the fixed appliance on the lingual side of the patient's teeth. Now I will introduce the advantages and disadvantages of tongue invisible correction for everyone.

Advantages of lingual invisible orthodontic treatment: Compared with the traditional labial appliance, lingual orthodontic system has the advantages of reducing tooth demineralization, reducing caries rate, relieving labial gingival atrophy and labial periodontal problems. Compared with invisible orthodontic treatment without brackets, lingual appliance has the advantages of three-dimensional control of teeth, wide indications and more accurate and stable correction effect for complex cases. However, at present, there is relatively little research on lingual appliance, especially the long-term effect of lingual appliance on patients, the pronunciation of patients and the comparison of different types of lingual appliance.

The disadvantages of lingual appliance mainly include: First, all appliances have an adaptation period, that is, discomfort at the initial stage of wearing. However, compared with invisible appliances and traditional labial appliances, lingual appliance is stuck on the outside of the tongue, which limits the movement of the tongue. Its discomfort is stronger than other appliances, and the adaptation period is longer, and patients with lingual discomfort can last for up to 3 months. Secondly, the lingual appliance of the anterior teeth makes it difficult to bite the anterior teeth at the initial stage of wearing, but it can basically be solved in 1~ 3 months. Third, in addition, it will be more difficult to clean the lingual mouth, so it is best to use a special cleaning brush for lingual side. Fourthly, the cost of lingual orthodontics is high, and the operation time of chair bed is longer than that of labial side, so lingual orthodontists are needed for lingual orthodontics.
