China automobile enterprises generally have excess capacity. How to make use of the excess capacity?

According to the latest statistics of the Passenger Car Association, the capacity utilization rate of passenger cars in China dropped from 66.55% in 20 17 to 53.74% in 20 19. Most automobile production capacity reached its peak in 20 17, which was the peak of automobile sales in China, and many automobile companies also chose to set up factories all over the country. But when such a huge production capacity faces the shrinking sales market, the problem arises.

According to statistics, there are 7 car companies with capacity utilization rate of 80%- 100%, 60%-80% 103 car companies with capacity utilization rate below 60%. However, there are only 8 car companies with capacity utilization rate greater than 100%.

In the report released by the Association, eight enterprises, including GAC Toyota, Dongfeng Honda, GAC Honda, Tianjin FAW Toyota, Sichuan FAW Toyota, BMW Brilliance, Beijing Benz and Dongfeng Nissan, have capacity utilization rates exceeding 100%.

The capacity utilization rate of seven enterprises, including FAW-Volkswagen, SAIC-Volkswagen and SAIC-GM, is between 80%- 100%, which is in a reasonable range.

Car companies with capacity utilization rate of 60%-80% are mainly first-line independent brands, including SAIC Passenger Cars, Geely Group, Great Wall Motor, SAIC-GM-Wuling, Changan Mazda, GAC Mitsubishi, Chery Automobile, etc. 10.

Obviously, the state is encouraging more new forces to enter the market like Weilai Automobile, Xpeng Automobile, Xinte Automobile and Singularity Automobile.

Recently, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued a notice to revise the Regulations on the Administration of New Energy Vehicle Manufacturers and Products Access (Order No.39 of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology) (hereinafter referred to as Order No.39) and publicly solicit opinions. According to the revised opinions issued by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, separating design from production, lowering the entry threshold for enterprises and encouraging OEM are three obvious adjustment directions.
