What is a quartz watch? Why is it called a quartz watch?

It was called an electronic watch when it first appeared. Quartz watch is made by using the principle that the timely crystal is driven by electricity to produce regular vibration. Compared with traditional mechanical watches, quartz watches are lighter and more accurate, and at the same time, they avoid the cumbersome winding of mechanical watches, so they are very popular.

Cheaper and more accurate than mechanical watches.

The working principle of quartz watch:

Quartz watch is a structure with battery as energy source, time oscillator as time reference, integrated circuit as core, and time displayed by hands or numbers.

1, the oscillator generates a signal of 32768 Hz. Oscillator circuit includes quartz crystal oscillator and C/MOS-LSI circuit.

2. The oscillator circuit includes a trimming capacitor to adjust the speed.

3. In the frequency division circuit, the oscillation signal 32768 Hz input from the oscillator circuit is divided twice until the output pulse signal is 1 Hz.

4. The driving circuit amplifies the one-second pulse signal output by the frequency dividing circuit, and then alternately transmits the positive and negative pulse signals to the driving coil within the interval of one second.

5. After the drive coil receives the pulse signal current, the stepping motor will run at a speed of 60 per second. Angle, intermittent rotation.

6. The rotation of the stepping motor is transmitted to the gear train, thus driving the second hand, minute hand, hour hand and calendar mechanism to rotate.

7. Silver oxide battery is the energy source of electronic circuits and stepping motors, which can provide stable electric energy for two years or more.

The reason why quartz watches are more accurate than mechanical watches;

Quartz watches use quartz resonators as a time reference. The oscillation frequency of quartz resonator is very high, generally 32768Hz, while the oscillation frequency of the balance spring of mechanical watch is only 2.5 ~ 5 Hz. The higher the oscillation frequency, the more accurate the time. Therefore, the time accuracy of quartz watch is higher than that of mechanical watch.

In addition, the mechanical watch has a spiral line. When people wind their watches, they wind them up. When the screw is loosened, it starts to drive the movement of the watch core. However, the spiral movement speed of mechanical watch is inconsistent, which leads to the decline of timing accuracy. Accuracy is also affected by temperature, position, parts wear and other factors.
