Legal Basis

The Law of the People's Republic of China on Punishments for Public Security Administration

Article 27 Anyone who commits any of the following acts shall be sentenced to not less than 10 days but not more than 15 days of detention, and may be fined not more than 1,000 yuan; if the circumstances are less serious, he shall be sentenced to not less than 5 but not more than 10 days of detention, and may also be fined not more than 500 yuan. A fine of not more than 500 yuan:

(1) organizing, instigating, coercing, enticing, or inciting others to engage in activities of cults, synagogues or superstitious activities, or making use of cults, synagogues, or superstitious activities to disturb the social order or damage the physical health of others;

(2) falsely using the name of a religion or qigong to carry out activities which disturb the social order or damage the physical health of others.
