The value criterion of "patriotism, dedication, honesty and friendliness" advocated by the socialist core values at the personal level is the inheritance and promotion of the patriotic thought of "the rise and fall of the world, the responsibility of every man", the practical rationality of "applying the world, integrating knowledge with practice", the integrity concept of "keeping promises" and the loyalty and forgiveness of "the benevolent loves others" in traditional culture.

Socialist core values are rooted in the rich fertile soil of excellent traditional culture, the result of the continuous development of Chinese excellent traditional culture in contemporary China, and the latest form of its moral concept. Chinese traditional virtues, including benevolence, loyalty, filial piety, benevolence, honesty, neutrality, modesty, simplicity, diligence and generosity, are not out of date, but more brilliant under the new historical conditions. To cultivate and practice the core values of socialism, we must vigorously carry forward the moral concepts in Chinese excellent traditional culture, consciously persist in removing the rough and the fine, the false and the true, the essence and the dross, actively endow it with new connotation of the times, and profoundly expound its value of the times, so as to unify it with the national value goal of "prosperity, democracy, civilization and harmony" and the social value orientation of "freedom, equality, justice and rule of law"
