The existing murals in China are mainly distributed in (b) the western region. Such as Shanxi, Gansu and Luoyang in western Henan. There are many Buddhist and Taoist buildings and many murals in these places. Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang, Gansu, Yungang Grottoes in Datong, Shanxi, Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, Henan, and Maijishan Grottoes in Tianshui, Gansu are also called the four major grottoes in China.
