Moroni's manners and customs

Clothes and staple food

The dress of Moroni people is basically the same as that of Arabs. Men wear monochrome clothes, from waist to knee; Women wear two kinds of multicolored clothes, one wrapped around their bodies and the other hung over their shoulders. Nowadays, many people wear suits, but they are not very popular.

The Moroni people's staple foods are bananas, breadfruit, cassava and papaya.

luxurious wedding

Moroni has followed a very luxurious tradition for generations: that is, an extremely luxurious grand wedding.

The bride and groom's dresses are extremely luxurious, often inlaid with dozens or even hundreds of gold ornaments. Traditionally, such luxurious dresses and jewels are usually worth more than $20,000.

For most ordinary families, a wedding means spending their life savings, but most Comorians still enjoy this traditional wedding with a history of 1000 years. But now this tradition has been questioned because it is too extravagant.

Moroni people are very hospitable. No matter who you visit, the enthusiastic host will definitely prepare a Comoros-style fruit banquet for the guests. In diplomatic occasions, Moroni people will warmly shake hands with friends and greet them, calling men Mr, women Mrs and women Miss. Moroni residents are mostly Muslims, and their religious ceremonies are very strict and their prayers are diligent. They attach great importance to pilgrimage to Mecca and strictly abide by Islamic rules.
