Overview of Nawurezi Festival
Wu Na Zeko means to bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new year, or to stay overnight as the first day of the new year. During their belief in Shamanism, these ethnic groups all have their own chronological method, that is, the twelve branches of the old calendar, that is, the twelve years, are named after the animals of the zodiac every year. Kazakhs regard the vernal equinox of the first lunar month (around March 22 in the solar calendar) as New Year's Day, which is actually the chronology of the zodiac. The vernal equinox of the first lunar month is equal to day and night, which is the day to turn over for the New Year. Therefore, the day to bid farewell to the old and welcome the new is celebrated as one's own festival. Every year, the first day of the first lunar month (that is, March 20th or 2 1 day in Gregorian calendar) is a festival.
