Guiyang County, belonging to Chenzhou City, Hunan Province, is located in the west of Chenzhou City, at the northern foot of Nanling Mountain, in the middle and upper reaches of Fuling River, a tributary of Xiangjiang River, bordering Beihu District in the east, Xintian County and Jiahe County in the west, Qiyang City, Changning City, leiyang city and Yongxing County in the north and Guangdong Province in the south. The county seat is 3 1.7 km away from Chenzhou city.

With a total area of 2973 square kilometers [24], it governs 22 towns (streets) and 398 administrative villages (communities). [16][20] Guiyang county has a permanent population of 709,300 and a total population of 960,000, making it the largest county in Chenzhou with the largest population.

Guiyang has a history of more than 2200 years since the county was founded in the early Han Dynasty.
