Functions of common electronic ignition system components

1 The battery or generator provides low-voltage electric energy to the ignition system, and the standard voltage is generally 12V.

The ignition coil changes the low voltage of 12V into the high voltage of 15~20KV.

The distributor is mainly composed of signal generator, distributor and ignition advance mechanism. The signal generator generates an ignition signal. The distributor sends the high-voltage electricity generated by the ignition coil to the spark plugs of each cylinder according to the working sequence of the engine. The ignition advance mechanism changes the ignition advance angle with the change of generator speed, load and gasoline octane number.

The igniter amplifies the signal generated by the signal generator, and finally controls the on-off of the high-power triode to achieve the purpose of controlling the on-off of the primary current of the ignition coil.

The spark plug introduces high-voltage electricity into the combustion chamber, generating an electric spark to ignite the mixture. The ignition switch controls the primary circuit of the ignition system, and can also control the instrument circuit and the starting relay circuit.
