Why is Absurd Drama a Pioneer Drama?

Absurd playwrights believe that the world is absurd and life is meaningless. They believe that absurdity is the essence of the world and irrationality is the core of drama expression. Influenced by existentialism, the absurd drama shows the ugliness and fear, emptiness and despair of reality. Life is painful and absurd, and people cannot communicate with each other.

The traditional view of art holds that drama must be based on rationality, obtain truth through imitation and reproduce the true colors of life. The aesthetic pursuit of avant-garde drama is contrary to traditional drama and a rebellion against artistic tradition. Avant-garde drama deepens the theme of drama revealing human nature and social criticism, advocates language revolution and innovation of performance form, breaks the realistic view of time and space, and the form itself becomes an important object of expression.
