What are the mysterious traditions of the Ming Dynasty?

Ming Wanli Dingling Mausoleum is the first imperial mausoleum excavated by archaeologists purposefully and in a planned way after liberation. Novels describing how this mausoleum was excavated and how cultural relics were unearthed have been searched a lot on the Internet, and archaeological materials are piled up. However, few people know seven little secrets about the tomb of Emperor Wanli.

1. There are four big nails on the emperor's coffin.

Archaeology and grave robbery are definitely not the same thing. Tomb-raiding is just taking out the treasures in the coffin, while archaeology is really recording the positions of bones and cultural relics in the coffin, protecting the coffin and other cultural relics, and then extracting the funerary objects in the coffin.

Archaeologists opened the tomb door of Dingling. Archaeologists found the coffin of Emperor Wanli in the underground palace, which consists of five tall halls: front, middle, back, left and right, with a total area of 1 195 square meters. The coffin outside is made of pine, while the coffin inside is made of sandalwood. Archaeologists pried open the coffin lid with a crowbar and found that there were only four big black nails on the coffin lid of Emperor Wanli.

2. the robe under the brocade quilt

Open the lid of the coffin. There is a quilt under it. When you open the quilt, the first thing you see is a nightgown. As we all know, the Ming emperors believed in Buddhism and were relatively indifferent to Taoism.

This cassock is made of pure yellow silk. It is thick, unlined and has a cardigan on the right. There is also a line embroidered on the bottom of the robe: it was made on the 18th day of the first month of the 43rd year of Wanli, with a length of three feet, nine inches and six minutes and a length of nine ounces.

3. The condition of the remains of Emperor Wanli

Emperor Wanli was rotten to the bone, with a string of beads in his right hand and two yellow beards on his mouth. His body was lying on his back. As we know, the Ming emperors liked to use the side burial method, which is a typical seven-star burial in Ming Dynasty.

Seven-star burial is helpful for emperor Wanli to ascend to heaven as soon as possible, but the lying posture of Wanli's remains in the coffin is not the standard seven-star burial system. Why is this happening? According to Tai Changzhi, when the funeral procession of Emperor Wanli walked to Gonghuacheng (now Shahe), a coffin rope was broken. It is estimated that the coffin corner that landed made the body of Emperor Wanli lie on his back.

4. The style of Wanli robes and the name of robes.

On the body of Emperor Wanli, there are more than a dozen layers of brocade, including a dragon robe with twelve dragons and twelve chapters. This dragon robe has the patterns of sun, moon, stars, mountains, dragons, China insects, Zong Yi, seaweed, fire, pink rice, flounder and haze 12. Each pattern has its specific symbolic meaning, for example, the sun, the moon and the stars symbolize light; Mountains mean towns; Dragon is impermanent; China's bugs represent beauty; Zong Yi stands for filial piety; Seaweed represents literary talent; Fire represents warmth; Pink rice means not forgetting people; Being an axe represents decisiveness; Fu advocated seeing Si Qi.

Historians say that in these twelve chapters, Emperor Wanli occupied one chapter, but it was not decisive, but arbitrary.

The name of the fabric of Wanli robes is a bit long, and it is called: peacock feathers, brocade flowers, persimmon shoulder dragons, straight sleeves, knee bars, four-in-one moire yarn, and robe fabrics.

5, wax fried wooden figurines

After the death of the ancient emperor, it was generally a cruel martyrdom, but the emperor Wanli used the "wooden figurine martyrdom". Because of the Qinshui in the underground palace, several boxes of puppets that Emperor Wanli died of were almost rotten to mud, and some puppets that were not rotten were picked out. These puppets are exquisite maids, handsome waiters and tall eunuchs.

For long-term preservation, an archaeologist used an indigenous method to fry the wooden figurines in wax juice. As a result, the wooden figurines were quickly dehydrated, and all the young wooden figurines became old wooden figurines in boiling wax juice. (Don't play like this)

6. Blood type of Emperor Wanli

A strand of Emperor Wanli's hair was sent to People's Public Security University. After examination, it turned out to be AB blood type, while Empress Xiaojing was B blood type. People with AB blood type are confident people with complex and changeable personalities. Muddle along, don't force yourself.

7. In the remains of Emperor Wanli, the components of crows and thin slices were detected.

In the Ming Hui Dian, Siam, Java and other countries pay 200 Jin of black incense to Wanli every year. What is black incense? This is poison and smell-crows and slices. It was found that the bone marrow of Emperor Wanli contained crows and sliced fish by the advanced instruments of Public Security University. It has become an indisputable fact that Emperor Wanli took drugs!
