However, due to the lack of leading enterprises and reasonable planning, farmers have been planting spontaneously and dispersedly for a long time, and the economic benefits are difficult to show. In 2003, Qujing introduced private entrepreneurs and established Hao Bo Biotechnology Co., Ltd., which is engaged in the industrial planting and deep processing of marigold. The company cooperated with Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences to establish Yunnan Marigold Research Institute, and at the same time implemented the model of company+base+farmer, which realized the transformation of marigold industry from extensive to intensive, and promoted the scale and industrialization development of the industry. In 2005, 65,438+10,000 mu of marigold was planted in 13 towns of Zhanyi County and Malong County in Qujing City. By September, flowers122,400 tons have been purchased, and dried flower granules12,240 tons and lutein extract 1360 tons can be produced, achieving an agricultural output value of 73,360 tons.

At present, the company mainly produces lutein extract, which is widely used in feed, food, medicine and cosmetics. The products are mainly sold to the United States, Germany, Mexico, Spain and India. It is reported that the company will radiate to the surrounding cities and counties with Zhanyi County as the center, and continuously expand the planting scale.
